Developer Advocate
Wow! I can't believe it's been a couple of weeks since I attended and hosted my first SAP TechEd virtual event. This event was an experience I honestly would not be able to forget. I want to first give a shout out to my fellow Channel 1 hosts: rui.nogueira , cecily.sorenson  , orla.cullen , juliane.krampe , kevin.muessig , thomas.grassl , mynyna.chau , l_stodal , karsten.hohage , chuergo16 😊

And my Developer Advocate team:

The First Of Many

During this trip I experienced many firsts: my first SAP TechEd, my first time in Germany, my first time meeting my team in person, and lastly, my first time being a Channel 1 HOST! Being surrounded by extraordinary colleagues and a great production team, I would say, was one of the best parts of this trip. Witnessing the effort that it takes to produce a virtual event is spectacular. I was fortunate enough to catch all of this firsthand while filming our Developer keynote and as a Channel 1 host. From mic set-ups, dry-runs, multiple takes, and occasional snack breaks. I couldn't be more fortunate. I couldn't be more appreciative. I couldn't be luckier than to experience this.

SAP TechEd Virtual Studio

The first week before the event, my team and I prepared and recorded our developer keynote in Frankfurt, Germany where the virtual event took place. I have never been in such a sophisticated studio and surrounded by such a fantastic production team than the ones in Frankfurt. The team was very professional and made sure we felt comfortable. We are Developer Advocates, but we can directly add acting as part of our skills after our developer keynote.

Developer Keynote

I might be biased, but I would say the best session without a doubt, was the developer keynote! In a "Big Brother" format, we created an engaging yet informative keynote.

The Developer Advocate team worked extremely hard both on-set and off-set. The months of hard work and preparation showed in the outcome. As josh.bentley had said, we were given the technical and creative freedom to create a keynote that non-technical and technical individuals would enjoy.

Channel 1: Social Media Wall & Remote Check-ins

When I was asked to take part in being a Channel 1 host, without a doubt, I said YES!

The planning before the event, I would say, was excellent. I was able to speak with our SAP champions and mentors as they shared their expertise and talked about their experiences during the event. Thank you to all my remote check-in speakers for making it so easy to interview you. I had a great time getting to know these exceptional individuals.

When I was not doing my remote check-in, I took part in the social media wall that l_stodal  and I hosted. This was the fun part of the event, and I say this because we got to see how the audience was enjoying TechEd and sharing their #SAPTechEd experience. We had an incredible number of posts with folks sharing their pets, office locations, Kasimir gears, and more.

Conclusion

This experience is one for the books, and I cannot wait for many more to come. Hopefully, next time, it could be a experience together in person.

I would love to read your thoughts on the event as the viewer, and if you are like me and this was your first SAP TechEd, please share your insight too!

To many firsts, Cheers!
