About the Exam

The SAP Certified Development Associate – SAP Integration Suite certification exam validates that the candidate possesses the fundamental and core knowledge required of the SAP Integration Suite profile.

Associate Level

Information about the exam is published on the SAP Training website. This is also where you can book the exam (or get a Certification Hub subscription).

CPI is the code for Cloud Platform Integration. The C_ stands for the associate (consultant) level type exam.

Validity

You can check the validity of the certifications at training.sap.com/certification/validity.

For the certification FAQs, see

SAP Certification Hub

To take the exam visit SAP Training and select Access the Certification Hub

The hub is hosted by Questionmark. Here you can book your exam, (re-)schedule, check your appointments, and launch the exam.

For the complete exam list, see

Topic Areas

Exam Page

Information about the topic areas covered is listed on the exam information page together with the corresponding SAP training cours, CLD900 for all topics.

However, an SAP Learning Hub subscription is not required as the content is also made available for free, time of writing, on the new SAP Learning portal (see below).

Note the small print: “SAP reserves the right to update the exam content (topics, items, weighting) at any time” make sure to check the exam page before applying.

Sample Questions

On the exam page, there is a link to a trial exam with 5 sample questions which closely resembles the real exam experience. If it is obvious what the answer should be for all questions, you are ready to take the exam. If you have no clue, you might want to study some more.

How to Prepare

Take the Learning Journey on SAP Learning

Time of writing, the learning content is freely available on the new SAP Learning portal, presented as learning journey with 5 units taking 5 hours to complete.

The units cover the same material as found in the course manual but in a format more suitable for self-study with short sections of text combined with videos and quizes.

Take a Training Course on SAP Training / SAP Learning Hub

For those with an SAP Learning Hub subscription, or with a budget to burn, you can also sign up for the e-learning course

This provides you with the oldskool format. You can download the manual as PDF for offline viewing.

Take the Learning Journey on SAP Learning Hub

The Learning Journeys on the SAP Learning Hub are also (still) available. The journey shows a visualisation of the courses to take, including free openSAP courses (which in the authors view would be better classified under Learn More than Start with an Overview as they do not necessarily align with the topic areas or are advanced topics out of scope of the exam).

You can logon and mark your progress.

Tutorials

SAP Developers

Some questions assume you are familiar with the user interface of the SAP BTP cockpit, the SAP Business Application Studio and other web interfaces. Going through the tutorials on SAP Developers is highly recommended.

You can filter the Tutorial Navigator on the suite for relevant tutorials.

Again, make sure to stay focussed on the topic areas, some tutorials may be out of scope.

SAP HANA Academy | SAP Partner Innovation Lab

Tahir Hussain Babar and Jamie Wiseman from have recorded a hands-on video tutorial series about the integration suite, covering many topics and tools also included in the exam.

If you are interested in not only getting certified but also to get hands-on experience, you might appreciate these series.

Books

SAP PRESS

Although there is no SAP PRESS Certification Success Guide on for the SAP Integration Suite, there  is an recent publication by SAP PRESS on the topic

Additional Resources

SAP Help Portal

Although most material covered in the training courses is also documented “somewhere” in a guide on the SAP Help Portal, trying to pass the exam by studying the documentation is not the most effective approach.

However, as developer, you are expected to be familiar with the documentation set so spending some on the Help Portal is time well spent.

SAP Community

To stay up to date, a regular visit to the SAP Integration Suite topic area on the SAP Community for the latest blog posts, Q&A, video tutorials, etc., is highly recommended.

You can follow the blog post and/or questions area for notifications.

openSAP

There are also several courses about the SAP Integration Suite and related topics on openSAP.

However, as with the documentation, make sure to keep your focus and avoid getting overwhelmed. Recommended also is to stick to the most recent courses. See the learning journey above for suggestions.

Over the years, for the SAP HANA Academy, SAP’s Partner Innovation Lab, and à titre personnel, I have written a little over 300 posts here for the SAP Community. Some articles only reached a few readers. Others attracted quite a few more. For your reading pleasure and convenience, here is a curated list of posts which somehow managed to pass the 10k-view mile stone and, as sign of current interest, still tickle the counters each month.

This is a fantastic blog post! I have signed up for the certification exam that is due in 2 weeks and this blog is going to be front and centre of my preparation. I plan to start with the learning journey and augment it with the videos from the SAP HANA Academy. It must have taken you a lot of time and effort to put this blog together and I am sure the entire community appreciates it.

I can only agree with previous comment. This is absolutely fantastic as a guideline to becoming certified for SAP Integration Suite. In my case, i've worked few years back in SAP XI/PI and I want to come up to speed with the latest toolsets / technology stack in the integration area. Great to find much more open content now to achieve this at own pace.

Will let you know the progress 🙂

      Thanks Denys.

It was a very useful article. I was entitled to receive my certificate with the guidance of this article. Thank you.

Do you have similar guidance for C_FIORIDEV_22
I couldn't find anything except very scattered sources. I couldn't find any books or videos about it.

I would also be grateful if you could provide information on this subject.
