data transition validation the tool to validate business data after conversion

Scenario

You prepare or run a system conversion, and you want to compare your business data before and after the transition. You want to avoid manual validation of every single document, but you do not want to invest too much time and money into this aspect. And you want to see already in a test run if everything went fine.

Data Transition Validation

Data Transition Validation is a new tool that allows you to define a project and run validation reports (provided by SAP) to check your data.

Availability

Data Transition Validation is available for a conversion to target release SAP S/4HANA 2021 (and higher). It is available on the target system as part of the software delivery (SAP BASIS). On the source system, it is made available via TCI SAP Notes (TCI: transport-based correction instruction).

It is available for customers and partners. It is not required to let SAP experts execute it, although it is always a good idea to involve our experts :-).

Delivered check reports

Data Transition Validation comes with a set of delivered SAP reports to validate your data. The set will potentially be extended step by step. Part of the project definition is the set of reports to be used for validation.

The available check reports are listed in the respective SAP Note 3117879 DTV Tool – Central Note.

Data extraction

You will extract the respective data during the conversion at two points in time: once shortly before entering downtime, and once after conversion is finished on the target release. Then you use Data Transition Validation to compare the extracted data, and the result will be shown in the tool.
