The Use Case Factory initiative creates and promotes actionable use cases on the SAP Business Technology Platform. These use cases highlight the key SAP BTP capabilities of Integration, Extension, and Data to Value, through the lens of a Line of Business, or Industry business process.
Over the coming weeks, this blog series will showcase 12 different use cases, their associated Journeys, and hopefully inspire some of your session selection at SAP TechEd 2021.

Calculate Employee Seniority with event-driven extensions
The next use case featured is an extension to SAP SuccessFactors onboarding, to enable a completely digital I-9 Part 2 process. It utilizes the SAP BTP, Kyma runtime and DocuSign e-Witness capabilities to create a seamless and secure end to end experience.
SAP SuccessFactors already provides extensive integration with DocuSign, to simplify hiring and recruiting processes. However, there are cases where a customer may want to incorporate custom processes with an electronic signature. For example, they might want to record a signature when specific training courses are completed, or to acknowledge a promotion or pay increase. In the case of Continuum Global Solutions, the need was to fulfill the US Federal I-9 process, in a workforce disrupted by the pandemic and a move to completely remote work. No longer could new hires easily take their I-9 to get notarized, and then physically have it reviewed by an HR business partner. Continuum Global Solutions was able to solve the problem with the SAP BTP, Kyma runtime and tight coupling with onboarding events from SAP SuccessFactors.
We would love it if you tried out this use case, through an interactive “mission” on the SAP Discovery Center. You will learn how to work with SAP BTP services such as Kyma runtime, configure OAuth2 providers between the SAP BTP and SAP SuccessFactors, and work with DocuSign concepts such as templates and webhooks. To simplify the dependency on SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding, the mission responds to the simple business event of a change in job title.
To support your builder journey, the full source code for this use case is available from the SAP-samples organization on GitHub. You can clone the repository and deploy it to your SAP BTP trial or enterprise account.
