Coming soon to SAP Emarsys – SAP Commerce Cloud Integration
In preparation for the SAP Emarsys Autumn Release (arriving on October 20th), I’d like to introduce some of the new features we will be including.
Today’s topic: SAP Commerce Cloud Integration.
What is the SAP Commerce Cloud Integration?
This plug-in pulls data from your SAP Commerce Cloud account and makes it available in Emarsys for use in personalization or as event triggers for automated programs.
We are releasing this as a pilot product, so please speak to your Partner Manager if you are interested in participating. We will continue to develop this throughout the next cycle, so:
- You can keep up to date with ongoing development by following this tag.
- More importantly, if you have any suggestions, ideas or questions please ask us as we would love to hear from you!
Installation
Setup is very easy and requires no technical knowledge whatsoever. You just need to create a new admin user in SAP with the username and password provided by Emarsys, paste the resulting URL in your Emarsys account, and the connection is ready.
It really is that simple.
The SAP username and password as provided by Emarsys
For full details, read our Integration manual.
Data sync
Syncing contact data and consent
Syncing real-time events
Syncing product catalogs
This entire setup can take less than 3 minutes if you know which data you want to sync.
Automating responses to SAP Commerce Cloud events
Once you have your data synced, you can create automated programs based on the SAP CC events, such as order update.
Selecting the SAP CC event to trigger a program
You can also define specific attributes to the event, such as Payment status = PAID.
Adding a trigger attribute
And now your program is ready for you to define the journey you want to send your contacts on, after they have completed a purchase.
A new SAP CC program with all the available channels
Dedicated Emarsys Tactics
We have also created 6 new Tactics specially designed for this integration. These are ready to use with pre-planned journeys and can be set up in minutes.
The SAP CC Integration Tactics
For a full list of the functionality available with this release, read our product documentation.
What if I don’t have CCv2 2105?
I’m afraid that this integration is only available for the latest version of SAP Commerce Cloud and will not be made backwards compatible.
So all I can say is that this is another great reason to upgrade your SAP CC version!
What is coming next?
Our next step will be to include sales data in the sync, including orders, refunds and cancellations. Work is ongoing and we’re hoping to see this live by the end of 2021.
And, as I wrote right at the top of this blog:

Hi Will,
When synchronizing contacts, which fields can be synchronized? Is it possible to add new ones?
For external events, in addition to the standard ones, is it possible to add new ones? If not, is it possible to do it through APIs, in these APIs I can add custom fields of the contact?
Best Regards,
Hi Angela Lopez, sincere apologies for the delay in responding - blame holiday, illness, moving jobs, climate change and little green men for distracting me.
When synchronizing contacts, I am not aware of any limitation in terms of what fields can be synced. Important is that the field types are consistent with the values they contain, otherwise segmentation will not work properly. Creating fields on the fly is not possible for imports - you should have them already created, but the import requires a sample file to validate this so any new fields that have not been created in Emarsys will show up there.
Here you can read up on mapping fields for import.
As for external events, you can certainly create new ones in the platform.
You can also create them via the API.
You can also create new contact fields via the API.
I hope that this goes some way to answering your question. If you have a follow-up question, please be as specific as you can so we can find the right solution for you.
