Building an App with SAP Fiori tools: New video series walks you through an end-to-end development scenario
Since the release of our initial Introduction to SAP Fiori tools video series, the SAP UX Engineering team has received many requests for an end-to-end overview of the extensions working together to create an application. We hear you and we are proud to announce that three Building an App with SAP Fiori tools videos are now available on the SAP UX Engineering YouTube channel. The series follows two product owners from SAP Fiori tools, Sushant Priyadarshi and I, as we work together to create an SAP Fiori elements overview page application from project generation through development and deployment.
Building an App with SAP Fiori tools: Generating your application project
Selecting an SAP Fiori elements floorplan to be generated via the Application Generator
In the first video of the series, Sushant (Co-product owner, SAP Fiori tools Application Generator) introduces the scenario (Developing an app to help an athletic shoe store better understand its customers) and then demonstrates how to use the Application Generator in SAP Fiori tools to generate the required SAP Fiori elements overview page project. He then wraps up by giving you resources for learning more about SAP Fiori tools, as well as showing you how to preview the new project.
Building an App with SAP Fiori tools: Building our your overview page
Adding an analytical card to an overview page using SAP Fiori tools Guided Development
In the second video of the series, I quickly walk you through populating the newly generated overview page with cards that illustrate the store’s customer segments and complaints. The video begins with an introduction to Guided Development – showing you how you can use it to configure and insert the cards – and ends with using the Service Modeler and XML Annotation Language Server to modify the project’s annotations to further personalize the cards for the given scenario.
Building an App with SAP Fiori tools: Deploying your application
Deploying the app created with SAP Fiori tools
In the third (and currently final) video in the series, Sushant demonstrates how to deploy and un-deploy the application, as well as where to find documentation for doing it yourself.
What would you like to see next?
As with our other video tutorials, our goal is to provide the content that is most relevant for you. If there is an SAP Fiori tools topic you would like to see as a future tutorial, share it in the comment section to let the team know! It might just be the next entry in our Building an App with SAP Fiori tools series.

What about adaptation of a std app? How to extend a std fiori elements app, deployed in on-premise systems using SAP Fiori tools?
IMHO that's a case that must be addressed, and then we could consider SAP Fiori toos for VS code as complete tool...
Hi Nick,
Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback! We hear where you are coming from and this is a topic the SAP Fiori tools team is currently looking into. When we are ready for the documentation and tutorials, we will definitely look into putting something together.
Kind regards,
Conrad

Can we run Unit tests to test OPAs like how it is available in WebIDE?
