In this blog post, I am going to present how our newly launched native application SAP Mobile Start will help Product managers to manage their daily work more efficiently.

The Project manager as a mobile persona

Project managers for professional services firms care about the successful delivery of their projects. They own the projects and are accountable for it, both internally and with the customers, which is often challenging. Evolving in a very competitive environment, they need to generate the most added value for their customers, while keeping the projects profitable. They often face issues accessing data while traveling or when they are away from their desk. It delays getting answers, or makes it more complex to report on the projects... In many cases, the mobile device is also the most convenient device to complete smaller but important tasks (like approvals), or exchange with the teams on a given issue.

Introducing SAP Mobile Start

SAP Mobile Start is the new native entry point to the Intelligent Enterprise on mobile devices. It provides users with an enhanced mobile access to SAP applications, web content, data, and news feeds to quickly address their daily work – anywhere and anytime.

Users can benefit from persona-tailored content, which will be easy to consume and optimized for mobile situations. SAP Mobile Start can be set up and configured to user needs by IT administrators. It allows users to stay up to date on mobile devices and act immediately on critical business situations. The app offers integration with business applications, enabling higher productivity, and is a key asset to help ensure business continuity directly from mobile devices.

Furthermore, SAP Mobile Start offers a deep integration with native mobile device capabilities such as widgets, notifications or spotlight search.

Improving the mobile experience for project managers

Tailored specifically to the needs of project managers, SAP Mobile Start offers seamless access to the information they need to complete their work – directly on their mobile device. While accessing multiple apps is often complex, SAP Mobile Start will help simplify the mobile experience.

Project managers can leverage the push notification feature in SAP Mobile Start to receive an alert whenever a change happens, helping to ensure they won’t miss an important event. Widgets on the home screen can show the latest KPI or relevant data of the project. Project managers won’t miss approving a leave request or updating a time sheet, as the status will be displayed directly on their device, and they will take an immediate action.

Across project phases, it’s not always easy to access the different SAP apps being used in a timely manner. With SAP Mobile Start, project managers can gain quick access to their own most-used apps or use the native search option (spotlight search on iOS) to search among native and Web apps by typing in their names.

Many mobile use cases are covered, and even more thanks to the integration with other native SAP apps, such as SAP Concur, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Ariba.

In a nutshell, SAP Mobile Start is a mobile companion throughout the across your day at work:

  • It is your native entry point to any SAP apps

  • It is tailored for your Project Manager missions

  • It offers a deep mobile integration to leverage mobile features.

Downloading the App

You can download SAP Mobile Start free of charge from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and test out the features using the integrated offline demo

We hope you will enjoy the experience, and we look forward to your comments!

Integration of SAP Task Center

With Task Center integration in SAP Mobile Start the user will have access to all workflow tasks in one screen. Tasks can be processed with just one click and now the user no longer need to install numerous Inboxes from various applications. This will reduce the time spent by approvers and improve the approval time for critical items. By providing a dedicated screen to access the tasks and notifications, the user has one place to easily process all their “to-do”s.

My colleague Ivan Chaushev describes all details regarding SAP Task Center in his blog post.
