Introduction

The purpose of this blog post is to describe the steps to migrate content from SAP S/4HANA content server to SAP Document Management Repositories.

The following scenario is applicable for SAP S/4HANA on-premise 1809 and higher releases.

Prerequisites

You must carefully read and follow below notes and blog post:

  1. SAP Note 389366 – Relocation of documents
  2. SAP Note 1536325 – Enhancement for report RSIRPIRL
  3. SAP Note 2991944 – Introducing the Delay mode in report RSIRPIRL
  4. To use document management as a content repository with SAP S/4HANA, refer to this help.

Executing RSIRPIRL report for Migration

Report RSIRPIRL works with attachments that are stored with applications like DMS, GOS etc.,

  1. Open transaction SE38 and run the report RSIRPIRL
  2. Input either document area or PHIO class.
  3. Input Source Category (SAP S/4HANA Content Server Category)
  4. Input Target Category (Storage category for CMIS Content Server, follow help to create one)
  5. Input Date Range (optional)
  6. Check or uncheck Test Run accordingly.
  7. Check or uncheck Delay Deletion accordingly.
  8. Check or uncheck Skip Empty Documents accordingly.
  9. Execute

If Test Run is checked, it will simulate and list all the documents that will be migrated, but no document will be migrated in process.

List%20of%20documents%20for%20migration

If it is unchecked, migration will be triggered.

If Delay Deletion is checked, the documents are not deleted immediately from the Source Category.

Refer to SAP Note 2991944 for further details.
The help document explains in detail the working of the report RSIRPIRL.

Limitation

Individual documents more than 400 MB are not migrated.

what is the strategy if you do an instance copy of your S4H

let's say you refresh your QA/Test instance from Production

what will happens to your documents, we don't want the QA documents point to the Production instance, thanks
