Guide to the Learning Journey for SAP Activate

Start in the Learning Journey

CLOUD – SOLUTION-AGNOSTIC
CERTIFICATION:
E_ACTCLD_21

Here you see the learnings required to achieve the Cloud solution-agnostic SAP Activate project manager certification E_ACTCLD_21, “SAP Certified Specialist - SAP Activate for Cloud Solutions Project Manager.”

In the Expand Your Skills section of the Learning Journey, you see the additional learnings to follow for SAP Activate in specific solutions.

At the start of Q2 this year we saw an emphasis on project manager cloud certification and we introduced, as seen here, a new certification for SAP Activate – E_ACTCLD_21. Let’s look at that first before we consider the other routes to competence.

The rationale for this new certification is that we wanted to offer a credential that would be applicable to project managers working with cloud solutions and dealing with SAP Activate.

Consider the certification description and observe that we see the designation “Specialist” in the name. This is the level of certification that is appropriate to an already experienced, certified individual in a particular area. In this case, we expect candidates to be already certified as an implementation consultant in some area. This is “strongly recommended.” Also, with the specialist certification, it is shorter than an associate certification. It is 40 questions and 90 minutes in duration.

If you look at the syllabus for the exam, by scrolling through the listed Topic Areas in the description, you see the “ways to attain” the knowledge for the sections of the exam and the approximate respective weightings of the topics.

For example, you see a section on Cloud Application Lifecycle Management, with the way to attain knowledge being completion of the openSAP (MOOC) course CALM1. Other topic areas include pieces based on the main Activate training course ACT100, for example “SAP Activate Overview.”

The expectation is that exam candidates will be subscribers to the SAP Learning Hub, for example to the Professional edition or Partner edition (not to be confused with Partner Edge edition). Thus, candidates in these “ways to attain” are pointed to the eBook and the specific section(s) of relevance. That eBook is found in the Learning Hub. The alternative to the eBook is the eLearning (ACT10e) which features a more interactive format.

For those who are familiar with the course ACT100, you will notice that for this certification we are not examining topics around implementation specifically of an on-premise solution. Rather this is around generic cloud. This exam is geared toward the project manager in cloud solutions. We do feature an example as you see in the Topic areas of a cloud implementation – SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

The two other sections are concerned with the knowledge about Agile methodology, and for that there is the eBook for course – ACT200.

Thus, for the whole Become Competent path, note the tiles showing the relevant learnings – openSAP CALM1, ACT100, ACT200, then the certification.

The other area in this Learning Journey after Become Competent is Expand Your Skills

SAP INTELLIGENT SPEND MANAGEMENT
BADGE:
SAP Solution Knowledge 2020 - SAP Activate for SAP Procurement Services

The first section here is called SAP Activate for Intelligent Spend Management Applications. We see that there are two learnings, ACT5CL and ACT6CL . The first, ACT5CL (“Introduction to SAP Activate Methodology for Cloud Implementations”), is an introduction to SAP Activate in the context of Cloud LoBs. We then have ACT6CL (“SAP Activate for SAP Intelligent Spend Management Implementations“), which goes into SAP Activate for Intelligent Spend Management Implementations. Following that there is the chance to take a knowledge badge assessment. Upon successfully passing that assessment, you gain a knowledge badge from SAP.

SAP SUCCESSFACTORS

If you are working with SAP SuccessFactors, there are two learnings for you.

ACT1CL (“SAP Activate Methodology: Introduction“) introduces SAP Activate for SAP SuccessFactors customers. SAP Activate Methodology for cloud implementation is discussed, focusing on the implementation of SAP SuccessFactors HCM using the SAP Activate framework.

ACT2CL  (“SAP Activate Methodology: Cloud Implementation“) is primarily written for SAP Professional Services and SAP Partner project managers and implementation consultants who will be assigned to SAP SuccessFactors implementation projects. It is highly recommended that customer project teams, especially customer project managers and system administrators, also take this course before starting a project using SAP Activate. This course contains the content of course ACT1CL.

SAP S/4HANA CLOUD

If you are engaged in project management with RISE with SAP S/4NAHA Cloud, then consider the section SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition Onboarding Fundamentals. In this section consider the tile “Related Learning Journey: RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud – Project Management”. Click here to go through to that Learning Journey . You will see that under “Become Competent,” there is a certification C_TS4C_2021. This is a 40 question exam, based on knowledge gained through the learning S4C01e “SAP S/4HANA Cloud Implementation Fundamentals.”

You may be aware of other specific SAP S/4HANA Cloud certifications, involving SAP Activate. If you are implementing SAP Activate for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, then you are recommended to focus on the methodology specific to SAP S/4HANA Cloud. There are three different SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementations:

PUBLIC edition (see certification C_TS4C~ mentioned above, within Learning Journey RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud – Project Management)

EXTENDED edition (see certification E_S4CEX~ which is featured in Learning Journey SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition – Onboarding Fundamentals), and

PRIVATE edition (see certification E_S4CPE~ which is featured in  ).

These exams ONLY explain the SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation with SAP Activate and do not generalize across any other cloud solutions or on premise.

SAP S/4HANA

CERTIFICATION: C_ACTIVATE13

If you are working extensively with SAP S/4HANA, we have another related Learning Journey: Learning Journey SAP S/4HANA – Implementation Tools and Methodology (SAP Activate)

You are encouraged to join the SAP Activate Learning Room within SAP Learning Hub. Here you can see the path to certification C_ACTIVATE~, join the forum and ask questions.

This is the original, SAP S/4HANA oriented certification. A look inside shows that the topic areas examined include the various transition paths on SAP S/4HANA (ie on-premise) as well as for new implementation SAP S/4HANA Cloud. For this certification, you are commended to study the full courses ACT100 and ACT200. This is an Associate Certification of three hours with 80 questions.

In the remainder of this related Learning Journey you find other courses from the SAP Solution Manager curriculum, concerned with implementation topics.
