SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS13 is Released, What’s In It for Me?
Hello ALM Community!
SAP Solution Manager 7.2 development is well-established, and SAP continues to rely to your collaborative innovation requests from the Customer Connection program to improve the user experience. Support Package Stack 13 is now available, so let’s review a couple of key features and how they improve your SAP Solution Manager experience. For a full video recap, register for the August 10 What’s New in SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS13 call (SAP Learning Hub sign-up required), check out the full Release Notes, and see the Overview presentation.
SAP Solution Manager Customer Connection is Continuing
In 2019, we asked our customers to submit and vote on improvement requests for the focus topics of Process Management, Test Suite and Change and Release Management. Your response was overwhelming, and the program feedback and discussions proved invaluable. Now with the release of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS13, we are happy to announce that the Customer Connection program is planned to restart in September 2021. For details, check out the Customer Influence page.
Now, let’s have a look at a few key features that have just been released with SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS13.
NEW for Process Management
Edit Documents Online with Any Browser in the Solution Documentation
One Customer Connection innovation request involved the ability to edit online any documents assigned to the solution documentation structure. This feature was released in SPS12 in a pilot mode but was restricted to only Microsoft Internet Explorer. Back in March 2021, one of the comments in Tonja’s Kehrer’s What’s New in SPS12 blog mentioned that the ability to edit online in any supported browser would “Make life much easier.”
I’m happy to report that dreams can come true! With SPS13 you can now use any supported browser to edit and save documents online, and it’s even available for SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS10 and above with SAP Note 30009338!

NEW for Test Suite
Enhanced Analytics
Based on another Customer Connection request, informative comments from testers are visible by default in the Test Suite Analytics application for the reports Test Plan – Test Cases Analysis, Test Package – Test Cases Analysis, and Multiple Test Status Details to provide better transparency. In addition, a new Miscellaneous field can be made visible in the reports if desired.

NEW for Test Suite
Password Management
Another Test Suite innovation is a new Password Management tab that allows you to manage all test user passwords centrally in a flat list for all systems under test and allow for mass changes. This means that if your test cases include processes that bridge many different systems, you can administer your testers’ passwords on all systems in one shot! A planned update to this feature will allow you to download the list to Microsoft Excel, make changes or additions, and then upload the changes to the Test Suite easily.
New Password Management Application
Finally, the Edit Online feature for Test Suite documents has been extended to cover Microsoft PowerPoint as well as Microsoft Word formats. It’s planned to also allow editing test documents online with any supported browsers by the next support package.
NEW for Application Operations
Improved Usability
We continue to make overall improvements for application operations, especially for hybrid and cloud landscapes. For SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS13, one key area of improvement involves PI Monitoring. In the past, there were challenges in this area involving being able to easily determine which system is sending or receiving, differences in message status groups, and the different user experience between the Message Monitor in the local PI system and PI Message Monitoring in SAP Solution Manager. With SPS13, a new and simplified SAP Solution Manager PI Message Monitor application provides:
-
- One central Message Monitor for messages which are running through the Java Adapter Engine (Central and Decentral)
- One central Message Monitor for messages which are running through the ABAP Integration Server and/or ABAP Proxy
- Alignment on message status groups between the local and central Message Monitor (status SUCCESSFUL instead of FORWARDED)
Simplified PI Message Monitor
And best of all, now the user experiences the same look and feel between the both the PI Message Monitor and the SAP Solution Manager Message Monitor application.
