Copy/download configuration from system to another system

Hi all,

If you ever go throw a situation where you need to copy your configuration from one project to another project or from one system to another where you can’t create a request between the two systems, then this blog post is for you.

In this blog post, we will do the below steps:

1- create the configuration file (BC Set).

2- download the configuration to the local hard drive.

3- upload the configuration file from the local hard drive to the target system.

4- activate the configuration on the target system.

Let’s go….

1- create the configuration file (BC Set).

Let’s say we need to copy the configuration for the control key (PP configuration).

Controle key ZZ01 is already configured on the system as follow

  • Open T-code SCPR3

  • Choose to create BC Set (F5)

this BC Set will be carrying the configuration you need to copy or download.

Let’s name this BC Set as Z_Control_key.

we can create a BC Set for one activity or multiply activities in one file choose IMG Hierarchy.

  • after hitting Enter the IMG will be displayed as follows

  • Go and find the configuration that you need to copy/download

in our case the control key configuration

As soon as you choose the configuration the right side of the screen(Data records tab) will display the configured activity (all control keys defined on this system).

  • choose “highlight” the activity (control key ZZ01)

under the Data records tab

  • save the BC Set from the save icon or just Ctrl+S

now your BC Set (Z_Control_key) is saved and ready to download.

2- download the configuration to the local hard drive.

  • To download the BC Set to the PC simply choose the download BC Set icon

  • choose the package
  • create a request
  • browse the  PC and choose the desire hard drive and folder and hit SAVE

now you have the file that contains the configuration you need on your hard drive.

3- upload the configuration file from the local hard drive to the target system.

  • open t-code SCPR3 on the target system.
  • simply choose the upload BC Set icon

  • choose the file that you downloaded earlier from the other system

Now you have uploaded the configuration file (BC Set) to the target system.

4- activate the configuration on the target system.

  • while you are in the upload screen you can choose the menu as following

Go to >> activation screen

or got to t-code SCPR20

the activation screen is now opened

  • just choose the activate icon

  • Create a request
  • Hit enter.

now you have activated the configuration on the target system Successfully.

But what if we need to do some changes before activating the BC Set?

this will be discussed in another blog post.

if you have any comments, please let me know.

thank you for reading.
