SAP Business ByDesign Shopping Cart feature for external Employees / Service Agents
Currently in SAP Business ByDesign there is a differentiation between internal and external employees. Both can have a user profile with access rights to available Work Centers and corresponding business areas.
But there is still a small difference in the area of Self-Service Shopping.
External Employee’s have not the possibility to see in HOME the Self-Service feature Shopping
and so, maybe are assuming, that “Go Shopping” or “Go Shopping (Advanced)” is not available and useable for them at all.
To mitigate this, there are some options available:
A service agent assigned with Project Team or Project Management work center can create shopping carts on behalf of an employee.
A service agent, if not hired as an employee can create shopping carts on behalf of an employee using the functionality Go Shopping (Advanced) from Project Team or Project Management work center.
A service agent who is hired as an employee can create shopping cart for himself using the functionality Go Shopping in Home work center and also on behalf of other employee using option Go Shopping (Advanced) from all the three work centers: Home, Project Team and Project Management.
If an Organizational Unit is assigned to a Service Agent, they can create shopping carts from the Home work center for themselves as well.
But the question is how? (as the Shopping Area is not available for them in HOME)
In this case, the External Employee / Service Agent User needs to go to
HOME – Self-Service Overview, My Requests, Track My Requests
Change View to “Shopping Carts – Open”
With this the UI changes dynamically and now the user can create own shopping carts:
