Painless upgrade from SAP BTP SDK for iOS 5.1 to 6.1

Do you develop native mobile applications with SAP BTP SDK for iOS, and do your mobile apps support iOS 13? Do you still use version 5.1 of the SAP BTP SDK for iOS?

I have good news for you. You can upgrade (to use the latest and greatest SAP offers) without interrupting your customer base. Because SAP BTP SDK for iOS release 6.1 supports iOS 13!

The SDK was listening to the feedback from the field. Initially, the SDK team was dropping support for iOS 13 when release 6.0 was shipped. But this kept customers from upgrading and getting cool features like

  • Crash Reporting
  • Offline OData V4 support

and new and improved controls like

  • Welcome Screen
  • Feedback Screen
  • Sidebar
  • Inline Signature Control
  • Segmented Control
  • New Chart Types

For further information about “What’s New,” please look at the official release notes.

With Release 6.1, there is (again) support for iOS 13. Also, to my knowledge, there are no incompatible changes, so upgrading is pretty painless.

Just four simple steps:

  1. Download SAP BTP SDK for iOS 6.1
  2. Export frameworks
  3. Replace the frameworks in your app
  4. Done

Export Frameworks from SAP BTP SDK for iOS Assistant

P.S.: There are some significant changes to how new Xcode projects are generated by the SAP BTP SDK for iOS Assistant. I can highly recommend his blog post from Kevin Muessig to get more info on that. But this does not affect the binary frameworks from the SAP BTP SDK for iOS and the replacement/upgrade.
