Overview

The new release of SAP Focused Run, 3.0 FP01, is available to Customers since the 21st of June 2021 and it introduces many additional features for most of the available use cases.

This blog is specific to the Advanced Analytics & Intelligence Dashboards (AAI), for additional changes refer to the following page: "what's new in FRUN 3.0 FP01"

New features in OCC Dashboard

Most of the new features in AAI have been developed for the OCC Dashboard, one of the most flexible tool we have in Focused Run to build Custom Dashboards to mix Metrics and Alerts coming from different use cases (System Monitoring, Real User Monitoring, Configuration & Secuirty Anaytics, etc.).

The list of new features include a new data provider for Downtime Monitoring, better systems selection for System Monitoring and several improvements for the CSA Data Provider.

New Downtime Monitor Data Provider

System Downtime Monitoring is one of the configurable views in the System Monitoring Application. It can be used to identify systems that are currently unavailable due to an outage or planned downtime.

A new Data Provider is now available in the OCC Dashboard to configure and display the same metrics (Number of Systems, Outages and Planned Downtime) using all the compatible renderers.

This will help with the creation of nice Dashboards using, for example, the GeoMap and SLR Table renderers to display outages and downtimes geographically distributed in different locations and data centers.

LMDB Attribute Selection for System Monitoring Data Provider

The configuration of complex dashboards including multiple systems can be a long process as it requires the individual selection of the technical system IDs. Furthermore, the selection is static and if you want to add more systems you have to modify the configuration.

With the "LMDB Attribute Selection" mechanism for System Monitoring data provider we are introducing a way to build dynamic lists of systems based on three LMDB attributes: IT Admin Role, Life Cycle Status and System Type.

LMDB Selection Attributes for System Monitoring

When one of the attributes is selected in the "LMDB" tab, the individual system selection is ignored and the relevant information are sent to the backend to dynamically build the list of systems.

This way it is possible to create, for example, a dashboard containing all the productive systems of type "Application Server ABAP". When a new productive system will be added in the landscape, it will be automatically included in the Dashboard without further configurations.

CSA (Configuration & Security Analytics) Data Provider

CSA data provider is tipically used to provide information about the number of Non Compliant Items for all the security baselines and a selected list of systems.

CSA compliancy in OCC Dashboard

In FP01 several improvements have been implemented:

  • Jump-in from OCC to standard CSA Validation or Trend Analysis

  • Trend support for compliancy metrics

  • Composite policies support

Jump-in to standard CSA

The data provider offers now the possibility to configure jump-in URLs to the standard Validation and the (new in FP01) Trend Analysis applications.

With this option enabled, when the user clicks on the compliancy values in the OCC Dashboard (s)he will be redirected to the standard CSA Application where (s)he will be able to get all the details for the selected system and timeframe.

Trend support for compliancy metrics

One of the most interesting funcionality available in FRUN 3.0 FP01 for the "Configuration & Security Analytics" use case, is the possibility to schedule periodic jobs to calculate and store compliancy values in a dedicated repository. These historycal values can be later used to evaluate and analize compliancy trends in the Landscape.

This new feature is fully supported in the OCC Dashboard CSA Data Provider which can be used display compliancy trends using all the supported renderers.

Composite Policies Support

With FRUN 3.0 FP01 users will be able to define Composite Policies by combining different Baselines in the CSA "Policy Management" application.

These composite policies are fully supported in the OCC Dashboard CSA Data Provider and can be selected in the "Policy" list like any other policy.

Smaller enhancements

History Table Renderer can now be sorted in descending order by using the dedicated option.

This way the newest records will be always displayed on top.
