SAPPHIRE NOW 2021 – Insights into Customer Best Practices and Trends to Reinvent Your Learning and Development

If the past year and a half has taught us anything, it is that plans can change quickly. With COVID-19 the world has changed dramatically overnight and with that our personal and professional lives. The COVID-19 pandemic has also forever altered the pace of digital transformation in the learning and development space. According to Fosway’s research “How is COVID-19 changing Learning” 94% of the questioned L&D professionals reported that they had to make significant changes to their current strategy, with 71% experiencing an increased demand for digital learning.

When business needs and focus areas shifted overnight and in-person training was no longer possible, companies that had a digital reskilling and upskilling framework in place were at a distinct advantage. At our SAPPHIRE NOW event in the track/sub-track, HR: Attracting and Developing a Future-Ready Workforce, we will discuss with customers how they have been able to succeeded in those challenging times but also what they have learned to prepare their workforce for the ongoing transformation.

Al-Ahli Hospital in Qatar wanted to create a culture of learning to help hospital staff keep their skills current and follow their preferred professional development plan. With the help of SAP SuccessFactors, the hospital was able to implement 100% digital workflows for training and performance management. And, most impressing, they were able to enable 1,200 frontline workers to complete crucial COVID-19 safety training in just two weeks.  Join the session Keep Safety and Quality of Care High with a Culture of Continuous Learning (HR212) to find out more.

In the session Learn How FedEx Built a Culture of Learning to Improve Customer Experiences (HR202) FedEx shares how SAP SuccessFactors Learning helps foster a culture of continual learning, supports its commitment to quality management and enables employees to deliver on the Purple Promise to make every FedEx experience outstanding.

Aspen Insurance, headquartered in London, wanted to create a personalized learning experience to develop talent and achieve their organization’s strategic learning goals. Digital transformation is here and ongoing. Companies and employees alike have learned that the future of work can’t wait. In order to get ahead, both sides of the equation need to invest in the right skills. In fact, the World Economic Forum estimates that “50% of employees will need reskilling by 2025 to keep pace with emerging technologies.” The current pandemic has simply accelerated how urgently organizations of all sizes and industries need to upskill and reskill their workforce. The change in the workplace is here to stay, so organizations need to reimagine learning and development to enable them to adapt their culture more quickly for increased agility.

Businesses need to embrace digital transformation and support a lifelong learning culture to survive and thrive. Now is the time to not just work out new innovative ideas in theory but to elaborate and execute on them. The good news is that Learning and Development has never been seen as so business critical now and gets high attention also at board level. Get valuable input on how our product strategy can concretely foster a culture of long-life learning. In our session Reinvent Learning to Tackle the Future of Work (HR100) we will talk about new ways like just in time learning, an intelligent, personalized, and unified learning experience and the intersection of talent and learning to improve organizational agility and internal mobility for a future-ready workforce.

When the pandemic prompted a halt on external hiring for many organizations, they were forced to train and redeploy their existing workforce to fill critical roles and close skills gaps. Organizations became even more aware of the importance of strategic and facilitated internal mobility, and they reimagined ways of serving up learning to allow employees to reskill and upskill from anywhere. This change in learning strategy will remain through 2021 and beyond, and organizations will focus on creating positive learning cultures that encourage employees to take responsibility for their own development and enable learning in the flow of work. “Employees owning their learning and mobility” is just one of the key meta-trends impacting HR in 2021 and beyond – we discuss all eight trends in our session Prioritize these HR Trends Now That the Future of Work has arrived (HR110 in the sub-track HR Trends and Priorities).

It is always great to see how everything comes together in action.
