The largest integrated telecommunications company in Taiwan, Chunghwa Telecom Co. Ltd. operates in an industry characterized by constant change and fast-evolving technology. To generate a monthly bill, accounting teams had to manually reproduce more than 300 pieces of information from one system before transferring this data to a second system. Integrating Two Billing Systems to Produce Invoices More Efficiently with SAP® Intelligent Robotic Process Automation


Chunghwa uses SAP Intelligent RPA to automate a billing process in which teams previously were manually collating more than 300 pieces of information from one system and transfer it to a separate system to create and send a monthly bill, which used to take 50 hours a month. In addition, automation eliminated the need for a year-long, expensive project to build an entirely new billing system.

Some of the highlights of the solution which delivered quick RoI with the lower total cost of ownership:

  • 83% reduction in time needed for monthly bill creation

  • Saved a budget of US$200,000 to build a new billing system

  • In one month, two persons automated the billing system using Intelligent RPA compared with one year and more than 10 developers required for the new billing system
