How can I order the enterprise management layer?

The enterprise management layer for SAP S/4HANA is a service provided by SAP.

This service is available whether you choose a deployment in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition or on premise, including when provisioned by a hosting provider.

In other words, as a customer, you can order the service and SAP will provide the content to be deployed in your system, together with documentation and a short enablement session to your project team.

For the implementation of the enterprise management layer, we recommend the SAP Activate methodology, for example the roadmap for SAP Activate Methodology for RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition.

All further project-related services can be provided by SAP or your preferred implementation partner.

How is the enterprise management deployed?

We build the customer system in a staging area according to each customer’s specifications: In the scope questionnaire, you can select the countries, your group currency and fiscal year as well as the functional scope based on cost and software license requirements. In other words, we adapt the content of the customer system to available software licenses and therefore make sure the system can be deployed in the productive landscape (as opposed to in a sandbox only).

We then provide a copy of the system - in technical terms, a SAP S/4HANA database backup - which then needs to be restored in the customer landscape, on premise or hosted. In other words, we provide an appliance.

For customers opting for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, SAP will get the system(s) ready for you, including the database restore and all post-processing tasks.

For customers opting for an on-premise deployment, we will provide the database backup files and overview documentation to guide the technical team through the restore and post-processing tasks.

Your system landscape can consist of a sandbox system only or a full landscape with a  development, a quality assurance and a production system - or all of them.

We recommend to deploy the enterprise management layer in all systems and hence build a solid foundation for the project team to adapt and tailor to your individual needs. Using the standard business processes wherever possible frees up time and resources and allows your project team to concentrate on those business processes that are customer-specific and that differentiate you from your competitors.
