Random Day Surprise // You are part of us! (Part 1)
Happy (belated) Star Wars Day everyone! May the fourth be with you – If you thought this phrase came from a really smart marketing team, you’re wrong unfortunately. Hmm, hence it must be the day that the first Star Wars premiered back in 1977, right? Wrong, again! No, credit for the pun goes to England’s conservative party, after Margaret Thatcher won the election on May 4, 1979. It actually took another 32 years (once Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012), until it became popular due to fans using it constantly on social media. So, that clever turn of phrase resulted in a National Star Wars holiday (plus in one of our Random Day Surprises) that fans celebrate annually by sharing May the 4th Be with You memes. Show us your favourite ones in the comment section below 😉
If you are someone in our community who consumes content, follows other members who share their knowledge and contribute insights, but you aren’t doing so yourself (yet), you may sometimes feel like we only recognize those who do and are active in SAP Community. We are recognizing and rewarding those who write things and share their wisdom, as bottom line is, without them we would have nothing to see here – literally! But you are also part of SAP Community and when you are liking that content or voting on it, provide value too. Yes, you provide value, and we aim to recognize that.
This blog post is to recognize you, the “engagers” in our community, who earned our Random Day Surprise badge which we award sporadically as a fun way to recognize every member who participates in our community on a particular day that is kept secret until that day.
Just recently, we awarded Random Day Surprise on May 4, Star Wars Day. If you participated in our community on that day, you earned this amazing badge:
Thank you for your participation, and keep it going! You never know when the next Random Day Surprise may happen…
Members who participated in SAP Community on Star Wars Day, May 4 // Note: If you earned any other badges last week in addition to this one, your name appears in my Weekly Mission & Badge Roundup // May 3 – May 9, 2021 instead:
My favorite Random Day Surprise badge yet!

How can I "unsubscribe" from getting those random badges? While I appreciate moderators appreciating other community members, I don't see much values in those badges and getting email and Community notifications.
Hi Boghyon - you can't really unsubscribe from receiving the badges per se, as most of them are automated and whenever you fulfilled all requirements, the badge gets uploaded to your profile. What you can do though, is setting up your email notifications / communication settings in a way that you won't get notified anymore about it.
Please let me know in case you don't know how to change the settings and I will reach out to you directly. Thank you!
I'm aware of the notification settings. Would be nice though if users could opt-out specifically from getting those "random" badges as well as related notifications.
For me personally, they're pure distraction. But I don't want to disable all notifications for other badges and name mentions.
how funny! Thank you!
very nice, thanks!
Thanks Lena! It's nice to be seen among others!
Thank You very much!
