SAP Enable Now Web Assistant for SAP Business ByDesign

With the release 2105 the SAP Enable Now Web Assistant is available for SAP Business ByDesign.

The SAP Enable Now Web Assistant is a web-based front-end solution which comes as an integrated help system that provides context sensitive assistance for end users and it is available in addition to the SAP Business ByDesign Help Center.
The help is delivered in a context sensitive way and shown directly within SAP Business ByDesign as an overlay without client installation.

Use Cases
There are two use cases that are supported for SAP Business ByDesign.

  1. SAP User Case
SAP will only deliver guided tours which provide step-by-step process guidance. A list of available Guided Tours can be found here. In addition, we plan to make use of the What‘s New functionality of the Web Assistant to introduce new capabilities.
  2. Partner Use Case
SAP Business ByDesign partner can now use the Web Assistant for creating content for your SAP Business ByDesign customers.
Partner can create context-sensitive help and learning content as well as guided tour to offer customized user assistance.

Web Assistant Configuration
To enable the Web Assistant in an SAP Business ByDesign tenant you must be a key user and as such

  • Go to the Me Area and select Key User Settings, and then Company Settings and go to the Web Assistant Configuration tab.
  • To enable the SAP use case, you only have to click Enable Web Assistant.
  • As a partner
    • you need to check Enable Custom User Assistance Content and then add the URL of your enable now content server and the workarea ID in which the related Business ByDesign content is stored.
    • In case you also want to offer learning content, you also need to check Enable Learning App (Tutorial) Content and again enter your content server and workarea information.

After saving the changes, you must log off and then log on again for your changes to be reflected.

Please note that in order to offer or consume customized-content, you have to enable Single Sign On for your SAP Enable Now Manager before you can use the Web Assistant with SAP Business ByDesign.

SAP Enable Now Web Assistant Licensing
There is no license required to consume SAP standard content (use case 1) available in the SAP Enable Now Web Assistant.
But partner as well as customers must license SAP Enable Now to create and / or consume customized content offered in the SAP Enable Now Web Assistant (use case 2). Please get here for more information.
Partner as well as customers who already have an SAP Enable Now license can reuse this license.

We've licensed Enable Now for our ByDesign rollout. Is there a URL for connecting to the SAP standard content so we can extend it, per Enhancement of the Learning App (

Also, do you plan to allow parameters in ByDesign so we can override the delivered theme (Forest Green/Arial)? We plan on using Quartz/72 for our content.

      Hi Simon,

The SAP provided content cannot be adapted as it comes directly from our SAP Enable Now Server which is not accessible from outside SAP.

Allowing parameters is something we already discussed but not yet decided if and when we will offer this feature.
