On the journey of digital transformation, data and visualization accessibility play a vital role. Demand for innovation, customization and transparent real-time analysis has increased dramatically and the use-cases within enterprises are numerous. Often enterprises ask for customized solutions, based on their internal processes, systems and data.

This kind of “personalization” may sometimes be complex for enterprises to manage, especially if the amount of data is large, diverse and lacks structure. Additionally, with an increasing number of involved departments, subsidiaries and other stakeholders such as suppliers, it becomes harder and harder to ensure transparency and data accuracy.

It is therefore important to consider how to transform data into relevant, timely and accurate business information, and how to navigate from transactional applications to analytical applications seamlessly to support trusted and quick decision making.

In the following blog, we introduce the highlights of a customer’s digitalization journey with SAP S/4HANA Cloud and embedded SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and how these solutions helped the customer to create the transparency needed for success.

A use case for S/4 HANA cloud and SAC in the consumer products industry

The customer of today’s success story is a producer of washing machines, refrigerators, and small home appliances. The group has become a top Chinese brand in the consumer products industry. However, as the competition grew, they needed to transform from a “white goods” manufacturer into a provider of appliances built directly into house décor, from a furniture manufacturer to a whole house customization service provider.

To realize their business goal, they needed a cross-company collaboration model for planning and manufacturing across different companies within their group. The group also needed to update their sales model to shift the focus from products to consumers. Hence, the customer began planning a digital transformation that would support their goals and enable fast growth. They came to us to get a software and service to cover their business transformation to make the process as simple and cost saving as possible.

We helped our customer to implement and adopt SAP S/4HANA Cloud successfully and tailored our product to their wishes and needs. The company was able to save 50% on ERP operational and maintenance costs. The group enhanced their financial accounting efficiency and shortened the monthly settlement period from 7-8 days to 2-3 days. SAP S/4HANA Cloud also helped them to improve on-time completion, delivery and arrival rate. They have increased the rate of on-time delivery by 20% and improved the rate of on-time arrival to between 90% and 98%.

Furthermore, the company has been able to create more transparency on their costs through the embedded SAC solution, which generates personalized reports about manufacturing costs.

Considering the company’s vision, space for future innovation and customization was also necessary, in addition to the standard structures of SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Thus, they were invited to join a co-innovation approach with SAP, which not only provides customized dashboards that meet the business requirements, but also enables them to gain expertise on embedded SAc.

According to the customer's business scenario, they required drilling down to more figures of the manufacturing cost, such as direct material cost, direct labor cost and manufacturing expenses for both actual and planned cost. In addition, the customer wanted to calculate actual cost and planned cost for each set. To fulfill all these needs, we tailored SAP S/4HANA Cloud and embedded SAC to the customer and introduced a feature to customize the Manufacturing Cost Analysis which provides the transparency that the customer wants.

What is theembedded SAP Analytics Cloud?

The embedded SAC is fully managed by SAP S/4HANA Cloud which exposes the embedded SAC functionality through SAP Fiori applications and that is all customers need to successfully work with the SAC. It enriches the current analytical functionalities and brings in more flexibility and ease of use.

Embedded SAC comes with the following features:

  • Direct access to SAP S/4HANA Cloud data based on live connectivity

  • Integration into SAP Fiori Launchpad, integrated in SAP S/4HANA Cloud role and screen variant management

  • Intent-based navigation

  • Flexible definition of own Analytics Models and Stories

  • SAP Fiori Variant Management

The pre-delivered dashboards existing in SAP S/4HANA Cloud covers various analysis requirements in accounting, treasury, procurement, sales and more.

Embedded SAC also allows customization for analysis purpose. After the data source has been imported, stories can be designed by business end users.
