Good to Know- How Daylight saving time (DST) in the world impacts the C4C systems

Hello all:

“This weekend in Chile at 00:00:00 they will be set the clock back 1 hour until 23:00:00 on Saturday. I was wondering if that brings up some kind of problem in the C4C system.

Is it necessary to take any precautions? ⚠️❓⁉️

I opened a ticket to the SAP team and they replied:

The system automatically enters and exits Daylight Saving Time (DST) based on the standard dates in each country. No action is required from the customer. According to the backend, the current time zone configuration for Chile, which started on September 6th 2020, is set to end on April 3rd 2021. As such, the dates appear to be consistent with real-life“.

With that answer, I felt calmer (😌) but I needed to know how I can see these settings for the other zones or countries. Maybe some document in the KBN? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️ 🤔

The SAP team said to me:

“The standard delivered data on countries/regions (names, postal code format, time zones, etc.) is developed by SAP to be aligned with ISO standards. Date/time and daylight savings rules are more specifically derived from ISO 8601.  As such, there is no specific SAP documentation on this since the information is derived from external sources and can be consulted on those external sources.”

That’s why I went to look for the info to find the ISO and check out the Date/time and daylight for other zones.

Here I put what I found in Wikipedia and maybe you can clarify more quickly if your country is affected by this change and when is scheduled. 🤗😍🎉😜 (Refer link here).

Even, if we have not take action in the C4C system is Good to know. ☀️

In the table above, the DST start and end times refer to the local time before each change occurs, unless otherwise specified. The shift is the amount of time added at the DST start time and subtracted at the DST end time. For example, in Canada and the United States, when DST starts, the local time changes from 2:00 to 3:00, and when DST ends, the local time changes from 2:00 to 1:00. As the time change depends on the time zone, it does not occur simultaneously in all parts of these countries. Conversely, in the parts of Europe that observe DST, the time change occurs simultaneously at 1:00 UTC in all locations, regardless of their time zone.

‼️Important‼️: All the information in this blog was taken from Wikipedia, for this reason, any doubt about the impact of this date and the C4C system can clarify with the SAP Team through a Ticket.

Here I put again the source link:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time_by_country

PD: Let me in the comment what where are you from and if you are affected by the change in DTS?

I from 🇨🇱 and you?

D.
