Employee Central Recognizing Gender Diversity

In some countries, legal requirement mandates to have additional gender values in addition to male and female. With 2020 H2 release, standard Gender Field (gender-country-specific) is available in Employee Central Global Information HRIS element specific to a country or region as an opt-in feature .

Pre-defined picklist for country specific values are available along with validation rules and messages for Germany and India in SAP Help portal.

This release covers Germany and India.

Similar solution can be implemented for other countries by including the standard field in the respective country’s global information and by creating a custom picklist with specific values valid for the country. Delivered validation rules can also be adapted for other countries.

Replication is also supported for downstream SAP HCM ERP system. While replicating the data from Employee Central to the SAP ERP HCM system or Employee Central Payroll system, the value is picked up from Global Information. If the value is not present in Global Information, then it is taken from Personal Information.

SAP HCM ERP system needs to be adapted so that replication works as desired. Before 2020 H2 release, a person’s gender was saved in their personal data (infotype 0002) automatically depending on the entry in the Form of Address field. The enhancement to the gender attributes means that this automated process is no longer possible. The form of address that was previously defined as a required entry field becomes an optional field and an entry is therefore no longer mandatory.

Previously, the form of address and gender assignment were defined using the view T522G (Title Keys). Two new Customizing tables(views) V_T77PAD_FRMADDR (Form of Address) and V_T77PAD_522GM (Default Value for Gender) are now available for these settings. These replace the previous table.

The complete solution approach is available in the Implementation Design Principle document Employee Central Recognizing Gender Diversity (sap.com)

      Hello Nidhi Mishra

Thanks for the detailed information on Gender Diversity functionality. I have come across following limitations in terms of this new feature.

      1. I cannot default Country Specific Gender value based on Personal Info Gender field if I want to ensure that the values are correctly maintained and vice-versa, using business rules.
      2. When Global information section is created and saved , there are few fields (Degree of Challenge & Credit Factor) which default to "0" value and when replication happens to SAP On-Premise this would result in error as these "0" values are not present in SAP On-Premise system.

Appreciate your inputs on the above points.

      Regards

      Gautham.

      Hi Gautham,

w.r.t point 1 , yes gender value in global info cannot be defaulted based on what is maintained in personal info as the base objects are different. You could use validation rules and warning messages to check the values as provided in the IDP.

W.r.t point 2 have you maintained value mapping in BIB for replicating fields?

      Regards,

      Nidhi

      Hi Nidhi

Yes, we have maintained BIB mapping for infotype 0004 values for Germany and in the target system we do not have any value with "0" for Degree of challenge and Credit factor.

When we create Global info section , entire fields in the view gets saved and triggers replication to SAP On-premise causing this replication error.

      Regards

      Gautham.

      Hi Gautham,

We didn't face this issue when we tested replication of csf gender. Is it really replication? Are you able to save the infotype 0004 when you create it in on-premise?

      Hi Nidhi

We can save infotype 0004 when we create in On-Premise , the issue is we do not have any mapping for Degree of Challenge and Credit Factor fields with value "0" , hence we encounter this issue when we just maintain the CSF Gender field and save the Global info section , as this section saves with value "0" in Degree of Challenge and Credit Factor fields.

Hope I am  clear with my problem statement.

      Regards

      Gautham.

      Hello Nidhi Mishra ,

I tried to access "Employee Central Recognizing Gender Diversity (sap.com)" link that you mentioned on your blog article and I received the following message:

When clicking on "Digital Library Support Team", it has behind the following URL: https://wiki.wdf.sap.corp/wiki/display/ngiesepam/Ticket+Creation+Guideline

      which also does not work.

I was wondering if you could provide the contact of the "Digital Library Support Team" to request them privileges to access "Employee Central Recognizing Gender Diversity" IDP document.

      Thank you in advance.

      Best regards,
