New draft IBM Redpaper publication “Modernize SAP Workloads on IBM Power Systems”

Digital Transformation and in particular Artificial Intelligence (AI) offer many opportunities to gain insights from your business data, grow your business or automate processes that were difficult to automate when using traditional methods. Many of the AI services are available as cloud offerings. To quickly start application modernization, you probably want to combine new, cloud-based AI services with your on-premises SAP system, be it the SAP Business Suite on any of the supported databases or the SAP S/4HANA on-premises edition. IBM is supporting this approach with their hybrid cloud strategy.

To help you getting started, IBM has recently published the draft version of an IBM Redpaper publication with the title “Modernize SAP Workloads on IBM Power Systems”. It will show you step by step how to connect to IBM Cloud services from within an SAP system, how to access an SAP system from a cloud application, and how to connect a TensorFlow Model Server (TMS) running on an IBM Power server to SAP HANA. The publication also elaborates the benefits of modernizing SAP applications with IBM AI and introduces some tools like IBM Watson Studio and IBM Watson OpenScale. While the title of the publication may imply that it is covering topics for IBM Power systems only, the majority of the contents can be applied to any hardware, operating system and database that is supported by the SAP Business Suite or SAP S/4HANA.
