Hello and welcome to my first blog post on SAP Intelligent RPA. I'm an UX and Mobility consultant for Latin america, and I've been working with RIG IRPA team for some months, and I wanted to share with you some of the knowledge I acquired in this team. This post objective is to advice customers on when it's preferrable to use Agent Groups rather than Agents in their Cloud Factory Environments.
Agents and Agent groups can be easily compared and analyze in a short comparison table:
Agents | Agent groups(without | Agent groups(with | |
Recommended number of Login/Machine users | <5 | Between 5 and 20 | > 20 |
Environment | More recommended for development environments | More recommended for productive environments | More recommended for productive environments |
Registration | User needs to login with credentials in the agent | User needs to login with credentials in the agent | Registration is done via Mass Agent Registration. Find how to in this link. This would enable a massive registration and users won’t need to login. |
Agent Sharing | Agentsneeds to be added to the environment (link) | Agent needs to be shared with agent group (link) and added to the agent group (link). | Not needed. However, agents need to be approved as described in the documentation of Mass Registration (see above). |
Maintenance | New agents need to log in and be added to the environment afterwards. | New users only need to be added to the agent group. Maintenance in environment is not needed. | New token needs to be generated to add new agents to the agent group. |
