Using the transport-based correction instructions (TCI) for customer vendor integration (CVI) on SAP ERP as preparation for conversion to SAP S/4HANA

Are you in the preparation phase of an SAP S/4HANA conversion? And do you want to bring your system in a good shape for the Customer Vendor Integration which is mandatory with SAP S/4HANA?

As part of S/4HANA Regional Implementation Group in the CVI expert group I would like to share the latest updates regarding to CVI system preparation.

As of 4th Feb, 2021 SAP delivered a new TCI NOTE for CVI: 2951811 – Transport-based correction instructions (TCIs) for customer vendor integration (CVI) on ECC (SAP_APPL).

An SAP Note transport-based correction instruction is a new way to deliver ABAP correction instructions to customer in a flexible manner.

CVI is complex and for a smooth migration you should apply available corrections related to it in your system before the process begins. Implementation of TCI is highly recommended in early stages of preparation for SAP S/4HANA conversion.

In order to make this task easier SAP has collected CVI relevant corrections into the TCI NOTE. The idea of this TCI NOTE is to get the system ready for the CVI process with necessary CVI core corrections.

The TCI NOTE 2951811 – Transport-based correction instructions (TCIs) for customer vendor integration (CVI) on ECC (SAP_APPL) is based on packages and is more holistic and comprehensive than previous TCI NOTE 2820678 – CVI SAP_APPL TCI which was NOTE based.

A TCI combines the benefits of a support package (SP) with the advantages of SAP Notes: It is as easy to implement as a SP – you do not have to perform any manual, possibly error-prone steps, such as maintaining customizing settings.

The implementation of the TCI corrects many program errors at once, increases the stability of the system, and provides a good foundation for the easy implementation of future SAP Notes.

Please be aware that before applying the TCI CVI NOTE is necessary to review the SAP Note 2187425 – Information about SAP Note Transport based Correction Instructions (TCI), which brings all information and requisites to apply a TCI NOTE.

The customers who are running projects and already applied the first TCI CVI NOTE 2820678 – CVI SAP_APPL TCI can also apply the new released TCI CVI NOTE 2951811 – Transport-based correction instructions (TCIs) for customer vendor integration (CVI) on ECC (SAP_APPL) in order to have all the CVI relevant corrections delivered through the support packages from January 2015 until August 2020, with few exceptions, so kindly check the validity of Correction Instructions before you apply.

The validation of Support Package coverage is a very important check before you start the TCI CVI NOTE application.

Once TCI CVI NOTE 2951811 – Transport-based correction instructions (TCIs) for customer vendor integration (CVI) on ECC (SAP_APPL) is implemented, then you should have able to run through CVI Cockpit smoothly.

Other important corrections which are not included in this latest released TCI CVI NOTE will be listed inside the TCI CVI NOTE itself provided by NOTE checker from CVI Cockpit. So, you can check which SAP Notes are missing and apply it to your system.

It´s important to highlight that all country specific requirements must be reviewed, even knowing that some of it are already included into this TCI CVI NOTE.

This blog post is relevant as preparation for conversion to SAP S/4HANA on-premise and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition deployments. It´s independent from the latest SAP S/4HANA target release as the introduction of the Business Partner / CVI is done before conversion in your SAP ERP.

      Hi Vivian,

To confirm. This note 2187425 – Information about SAP Note Transport based Correction Instructions (TCI) is not only an information note?

Is it a pre-requisite to implement CVI_COCKPIT?. Cause in the specific note for CVI_COCKPIT (2832085) recommends to read the INFORMATION note 2187425 and implement the neccesary corrections.

I am not techincal, but a functional consultant, and I want to implement de CVI_COCKPIT in a client for a future conversion (early stage). I think it´s worth, right?

Also in the note, there´s a seccuence recomended as a pre-requisite

Please ensure to implement the below notes in the same sequence before implementing this note:
SAP note 2850537 - DDIC changes for Central CVI Cockpit applicable
SAP note 2743494 - Prevalidation: Master Data Consistency Check
SAP note 2891455 - New Customizing Check Report for SAP S/4HANA Master Data Migration (BP<->CVI)

Is it really necesary to folow this secuence? Cause we aleready have implemented the note 2743494 and was wondering if it´s really neccesary to de-implement it

To sum up, I have a few questions regarding CVI_COCKPIT implementation. They are:

      1. I need to implement note 2187425 first?
      2. The sequence for the metioned notes is a must?
      3. Any other pre-requisite to get CVI_COCKPIT running?

      Thanks and regards
