SAP HANA Cloud, Adaptive Server Enterprise

For decades, SAP ASE has been to process high volumes of transactional data for customers in industries where performance and security are paramount.

The new SAP HANA Cloud, adaptive server enterprise service brings the power of SAP ASE to the cloud, where users will benefit from enhanced flexibility and scalability. It’s highly compatible with the latest release of SAP ASE, so customers will be able to make full use of their existing investments.

SAP HANA Cloud, adaptive server enterprise excels at processing high numbers of short, fast transactions. In the financial services industry, for example, customers use it to log transactional data in the form of actual financial transactions; meanwhile, telecoms companies use it to process phone call data and changing client subscriptions.

Since SAP ASE has been around for a while, the new service retains its ease-of-use with standard SQL-based applications. Porting standard applications from other databases to SAP HANA Cloud, adaptive server enterprise is quick and easy.

Best used for: Processing high volumes of transactional data

SAP HANA Cloud, HANA database

SAP HANA Cloud, HANA database is SAP’s flagship in-memory multi-model database management system.

The HANA database excels at connecting to and integrating with different data sources, whether those sources are SAP or non-SAP. With data virtualization, you can access data from connected sources without needing to replicate that data into your HANA database, saving storage space. And its multi-model processing capabilities allow it to process all different kinds of data.

The HANA database’s hybrid transactional engine also allows users to run analysis on live transactional data for fast, in-the-moment business decisions.

Best used for: Connecting and integrating with different data sources and data types, analyzing live transactional data for faster insight

SAP HANA Cloud, Data Lake

SAP HANA Cloud’s built-in data lake comes as part and parcel of SAP HANA Cloud, no extra purchase necessary. The data lake is used to store and analyze truly massive amounts of data on a petabyte scale. It’s built for SAP IQ workloads, allowing users to store and query data in the cloud.

Compared to SAP HANA Cloud, ASE and HANA databases, the data lake can affordably store even more data. But its high-performance analytics capabilities are where data lake truly shines, as any data stored stays easily accessible for analysis.

SAP HANA Cloud is being updated for compatibility with existing SAP IQ databases, so that customers can continue to gain value from their existing data.

Best used for: Cost-efficient and high-performance analysis of petabyte-scale data volumes

Advanced Data Management with SAP HANA Cloud

SAP HANA Cloud’s new services ensure that customers have full control of how they manage their data. Provisioning databases within SAP HANA Cloud is quick and easy. And with its consumption-based pricing, SAP HANA Cloud offers a clear overview of your TCO: users can choose exactly which services to allocate their budget to, and readjust between database instances and instance sizes as needed.
