Four months ago my colleague Holger Schweinfurth and I published the blog “What’s new in the SAP S/4HANA Utilities 2020”: https://blogs.sap.com/2020/10/12/whats-new-with-s-4hana-utilities-2020/ . While last October’s shipment was the main release for SAP S/4HANA on-premise, S/4HANA 2020 FPS1 (Feature Pack 1) released to customers on 24 Feb 2021, includes more innovations which are based on the same S/4HANA release (2020) and which are relevant to the utilities industry. Let me therefore share a few more details from the list of all innovations available under help.sap.com/utilities:

  1. We have improved extensibility of our Fiori apps for Billing Specialists in S/4HANA Utilities Enable display of customer-specific fields in SAP Fiori apps for utilities billing and invoicing

  2. OData APIs for updating existing products and updating charges (operation: create, update, delete) help product managers make changes to existing utility commodity products.

  3. We deliver additional and enhanced APIs in order to facilitate integration of on-premise and cloud solutions in a hybrid system landscapes, e.g.

  4. First available S/4HANA Utilities APIs have now been published in a dedicated utilities-industry package on SAP API Hub, SAP's central repository of publicly available APIs

Moreover, SAP S/4HANA Utilities 2020 FPS01 comprises numerous enhancements developed based on input received from our customers from the utilities industry in the context of SAP Customer Connection project SAP for Utilities on-premise 2020 One highlight is certainly the new mass activity to execute billing simulation in IS-U for multiple rates, have a look at SAP note 3001160 for details. But there are many more enhancements e.g. in the areas of meter reading, AMI web services, IS-U billing, invoicing and FI-CA.

We shared details about all improvement requests delivered within last year’s SAP Customer Connection project dedicated to the utilities industry at our delivery call webinars last December. Follow https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#blog/2382  to download the slide deck, listing all delivered enhancements with links to the respective SAP notes, or listen to the recording in English or German language.

Would you like to influence what enhancements are going to be developed for S/4HANA Utilities in 2021? If yes, I would like to encourage you to join our new Customer Connection project SAP for Utilities On Premise 2021. As mentioned in another SAP Community blog, kick-off webinars took place already. However it is not too late to join this project in case you missed it. All SAP customers from the utilities industry worldwide are invited to submit their improvement requests until 30 April 2021. Looking forward to your suggestions that help further improve SAP’s industry solution for utilities!
