Create an account for the cloud provider you have the subscription with (for this blog post I will be using AWS account). In the dropdown you can find all the other cloud providers, based on the provider the required information will be different.

For the AWS account you need to have the ACCESS KEY and SECRET KEY as shown below.

Make sure the account you have created is in ACTIVE status

Now Click on Solutions on the Left hand side

Form here you can choose the Solution you wish to launch.

I will be launching “ SAP S/4HANA 2020, Fully-Activated Appliance”, Click on Create instance.

Accept the terms and conditions

Choose the option existing Account and select the relevant Region. Keep in mind the cost will vary based on the Region Selected, Hence check for the the cost across regions and select the one with lowest cost.

Provide desired Instance Name and Password:

Click on Create:

Here you need to pay attention to the cost forecast and make sure you have selected the low cost zone if applicable.

Please wait while the virtual machines are prepared

Here you can find the details related to ports and IP range.

In this screen you can find the information related to schedule, based on the option selected the instance will be active or suspended and Terminated.

If you want to manually terminate, Backup and Restore the instances you can find the option in the below screen. In this case I am terminating the instance to again create the instance with Advanced mode. As this instance was created with default settings.

Click ok to terminate the instance and wait until the Instance is terminated.

Creating the instance with Advanced Mode:

Refer to the link below for more details: Advanced Mode: Creating an Instance (ondemand.com)

Public Static IP Address

Select this property, if you want your solution instance to have a static IP address until it is terminated.

Note

If you select Public Static IP Address, the cloud provider may impose an hourly charge for the reserved IP address on a specific instance usage (for example, while the instance is suspended and the IP address is not used).

Here you can exclude unwanted Virtual machines which can help to save the cost.

Its always recommended to have the Windows remote desktop which can be handy for certain trouble shooting capabilities. Also I have unchecked SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.2 SP07.

Also you can specify the desired sizes in the below screen

Verify all the details related to IP’s

Please Set the master password for the Solution instance

Maintain the Schedule to make sure the instance is active or suspended as per your needs. and also set the termination date.

Go through the summary of the instance that is going to be launched

Click on Create to launch the instance. Please refer to the below links for more information and post launch activities.

Conclusion:

You now have a fully activated SAP S/4HANA 2020 instance running in SAP Cloud Appliance Library which can be accessed via SAP GUI after adding the system properties.
