In a purchase requisition, the total value is calculated by totaling the value of all the items in it. The value of the items could be in a certain currency, the user’s company code currency might be different from this, the currency in the Default Settings for Users app might be something different from both of these, and so on. So, what is the currency in which the total value is displayed? Is it consistent across all the purchase requisition apps? As a configuration expert, you now have an option to choose the preferred currency in which you want the total value of the purchase requisition to be displayed. The value of all the items is converted to this currency and then summed up to arrive at the total value in your preferred currency.
Total value currency is the currency in which the total value of purchase requisition is displayed in all the purchase requisition apps. As a configuration expert, you can define the preferred Total Value Currency in the Default Settings for Users app. However, if you have no particular preference, then you can choose the option ‘No Preference’. This blog talks about the default behavior defined in the system when you choose the option ‘No Preference’ for Total Value Currency in the app Default Settings for Users.
When you choose the option ‘No Preference’; based on the values that have been maintained in the system, the total value currency is determined by the system considering the following order:
- Currency in ‘Default Settings for Users’ App
- Company Code Currency of User
- Currency of First Item of PR
That is, if the Currency has been maintained in Default Settings for Users app, it is used as the total value currency. If currency is not maintained in the default settings, then company code currency of user is used. If this is also not maintained, then currency of the first item in the purchase requisition is used as the total value currency.
