Highlights of SAP Activate Methodology Updates
SAP S/4HANA Cloud, essentials edition 2102
The SAP Activate content in the Implementation Roadmap for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, essentials edition (ES) has been enhanced for 2102 with improvements to help guide the customer through the implementation journey. The key highlights are:
- Reinstated JB1 as the default integration to Employee Central and re-added task Set Up Employee Central Integration (JB1).
- Updated the Multi-country Rollout reference guide in task Review Overview Documentation.
- New links and related process associated with adding users to the System Notifications subscriptions in task Receive Starter System and Resent Password.
- New deliverable and task Develop the Data Management Approach and Strategy for better planning of data migration.
- Updated the 12 Business Driven Configuration Questionnaires accelerators in task Perform Initial Business Process Assessment for S/4HANA Cloud.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition
- Addition content included in the Testing workstream area:
- New task Self-Enablement on Test Management and Tools with new accelerator of SAP Cloud ALM Testing App.
- Refined tasks under Test Planning deliverable to improve overall consistency.
- Added tasks Define Test Case and Create Manual Test Cases in Test Preparation to improve completeness of the deliverable.
- Refined tasks under Test Execution deliverable with clear reference to Solution Manger related applications.
- Expanded language coverage to include Japanese: Blog
- Enhancements to the SAP Fiori content:
- Added new task Revise SAP Fiori Apps in the Run phase, to help find deprecated SAP Fiori apps resulting from an SAP S/4HANA upgrade
- An updated SAP Blog that highlights how to find the Delta of New Apps between SAP S/4HANA Releases
- A new a SAP Micro Learning video course to help finding available SAP Fiori apps.
- Added a new accelerator Authorization Concept Template.doc (SAP Customer) to task Self-Enablement on Identity and Access Management and Authorization Concept
- Updates to the Data Management content:
- New deliverable Data Migration Approach and Strategy in the Prepare phase and a new task Develop the Data Management Approach and Strategy
- Renamed Find the Right Migration Objects to Determine the Required Migration Objects for S/4HANA Cloud.
- Removal of Best Practices accelerator Data Migration to SAP S/4HANA from File (BH5). Files are still loaded, but they are loaded to staging tables. This process is covered in the existing Data Migration to SAP S/4HANA from Staging (2Q2).
- New consolidated Perform Initial Business Process Assessment for S/4HANA Cloud task under Business Driven Configuration Assessment deliverable.
- Availability of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition into Cloud ALM

SAP Activate Methodology for RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition
Last week, SAP launched RISE with SAP to offer one bundle of products and services that help our customers start their journey to the Intelligent Enterprise at their own pace and on their own terms. Following this launch, the SAP Activate team released a blog introduction: Rise with SAP: Get your projects started right with SAP Activate and Ready-to-Run Business Process Content. We are pleased to announce the release of the new SAP Activate Methodology for RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition.
The SAP Activate implementation Methodology roadmap will guide the implementation team through a SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition implementation. It includes:
- Two implementation scenarios: New implementation and System Conversion.
- Tasks and accelerator to support the above implementation scenarios.
- Tasks and accelerators that reflect the latest SAP S/4HANA 2020 solution.
- Custom Code Analyzer tasks and accelerators.
- Guidance to follow Fit-to-Standard activities.
- Guidance to help with the SAP S/4HANA Readiness Check.
- Introduction to Cloud ALM. See tasks Review Overview Documentation and Self-Enable on Cloud ALM.

New functionality available in SAP Activate Roadmap Viewer
The following features improvements are now available in SAP Activate Roadmap Viewer.
- A new entry page provides, in addition to “Explore all roadmaps,” selectable favorite road maps and “how to use” instructions.
- Search functionality available for all roadmaps or for specific roadmaps.
- “Where used” information for all accelerators.
- Feedback option on accelerator level.
- Content sharing option (mail, social media) on activity and task level which supports the sharing of links on distinct topics in the roadmap with project team members.
- The grouping sequence in “Explore all roadmaps” changed.
New and updated features in SAP Cloud ALM
We have announced availability of SAP Cloud ALM to SAP S/4HANA Cloud customers in our last release announcement in November (see previous blog here). In this updated we want to highlight few new capabilities that are now available to SAP Cloud ALM users. SAP Cloud ALM is continuously developed and enhanced, you can always find the latest information about the planned capabilities in the SAP Cloud ALM product roadmap (link) and new features are highlighted on SAP Cloud ALM Help pages (link).

- Create and Custom Milestones (see Figure 1 below)
- Blocked status for tasks
- Last changed timestamp for tasks in Task List
