I’m very happy to share that SAP Business Scenario Recommendations on Spotlight is evolving and becoming a strategic component of the intelligent enterprise, with RISE with SAP.
Starting today, SAP Business Scenario Recommendations on Spotlight is being renamed to “Process Discovery for SAP S/4HANA Transformation”. Process Discovery is a free analysis tool to get started with Business Process Intelligence and SAP S/4HANA. What you can expect
You will receive tailored insights to build your case for SAP S/4HANA with Process Discovery. Understand your current business process performance. Identify new functionalities from SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori apps, automation and intelligent technologies to support your business goals.
The Process Discovery offering contains 2 complementary elements:
- The PDF document, targeting the business executives, called Process Discovery summary (the evolution of SAP Business Scenario Recommendations)
- The cloud-based analysis that experts can use to dive into more information. It is called the Process Discovery solution (currently named Spotlight).

How can I get Process Discovery for SAP S/4HANA Transformation?
With little effort you can request your own Process Discovery. Please follow the instructions and apply on your productive system SAP notes 2758146 and 2745851 . This will generate a zip-file containing the data we will need to generate the analysis.
The analysis in the online solution will be delivered to you automatically along with the PDF summary. The personalized access, as well as instructions on how to invite additional users, will be in the delivery email.
So all you need to do is to go to www.s4hana.com or www.sap.com/process-discovery, complete the form, upload your data and submit it. The service is free-of-charge for customers on SAP maintenance.

How does this relate to or differ from Signavio? Is this based on Signavio or will it be enhanced or replaced by Signavio moving forwards?

Process Discovery is not based on Signavio. Process Discovery helps you understand your current business process performance, identify new functionalities from SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori apps, automation and intelligent technologies to support your business goals.

Navigating into the Process Discovery solution is amazing.
Process Discovery summary (PDF) is also very interesting and it seems similar to the output of SAP Innovation and Optimization Pathfinder 2.0.
Discussing about the tools with newbies we often have to repeat that Pathfinder focuses is within the given solution (e.g. SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA) while Process Discovery focuses on the conversion from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA.
Why not naming SAP Process Discovery (Pathfinder) and SAP Process Discovery for Conversion to SAP S/4HANA (Process Discovery) / or maybe better SAP Innovation and Optimization Pathfinder and SAP Innovation and Optimization Pathfinder for Conversion to SAP S/4HANA.
Just an idea, in any case thanks for the your blog posts and keep rocking with tools supporting the innovations.

Hello Christian, this is a great tool and adds a lot of value to clients and consultants.
Process problems in the analyzed system are identified and hints are given how to fix them and improve them in S/4hana. Great idea.
The question i would have is related to the data analysis. Is the complete dataset of process data analyzed or only a representative period like 1 year analyzed?
