Spotlight: SAP HANA Cloud development in SAP Business Application Studio

You can now use SAP Business Application Studio — a new SAP Business Technology Platform service — to develop business applications that leverage the power of SAP HANA Cloud.

SAP Business Application Studio boasts a modular approach to rapid, efficient development of business applications to get your applications up and running quickly, and SAP HANA Cloud is only one of the latest additions to its growing list of supported developer scenarios.

If you are an SAP HANA Cloud user who develops complex SAP Intelligent Enterprise applications comprised of web-based or mobile UIs, robust business logic, and extensive SAP HANA data models, you will soon discover that SAP Business Application Studio was designed with you in mind. In fact, if you are currently using SAP Web IDE for your application development, you can consider SAP Business Application Studio to be its more efficient, fully featured successor.

Why would I use this feature?

Here are a few of the best design elements of SAP Business Application Studio that have the user experience of the application developer in mind:

  • development (dev) spaces that act like isolated virtual machines in the cloud containing pre-installed tools and runtimes for various different business scenarios (SAP Fiori, SAP S/4HANA extensions, Workflow, Mobile, and so on)
  • desktop-like experience similar to leading IDEs, with command-line and optimized editors
  • end-to-end application development capabilities allowing you to design, create, test, build, and run your Intelligent Business Enterprise applications
  • syntax-aware editors for code and SAP HANA artifacts and calculation views
