Three Common Questions About "Parameter" in App Custom CDS Views

1. Do I need to maintain parameter?

When you choose the primary data source, if the data source has parameters, like the below image, deleting parameter is not possible and you have to maintain parameter attributes.

2. What do the three parameter value types mean?

In the parameter configuration box, there are three parameter value types.

2.1 First parameter value type "Constant value"

With this type, you need to give fixed values for the parameters. Then these fixed values will work as default values.

2.2 Second parameter value type "Parameter"

With this type, you can see two variables "P_DisplayCurrency" and "P_ExchangeRateType_01" for the parameters. You can't change the variable names, because they are defaulted or generated automatically.

The next step is to maintain these variables in the second section.

2.3 Third parameter value type "Session variable"

With this type, you can set the parameter value to "System Language", "System User", or "System Date".  However, this value type does not match the two parameters here (for example, P_DisplayCurrency).

If you use this value type, make sure the value matches its parameter.

3. Error: View must contain at least one measure

Take it easy. In the Elements section, choose at least one measure field.
