Singapore Management University students proposed cool Covid-19 solutions

The collaboration between SAP and Singapore Management University, a University Alliances (UA) lighthouse University in Singapore strengthened in 2020 with a bigger batch of 35 SAP Next-Gen students learning and using SAP Cloud Platform (SCP) to develop cool solutions to help us overcome Covid19!  This is despite the pandemic that forced the students to do their entire project with SAP virtually!

The 13-week semester long course saw the 35 students in 6 teams learned SCP from their UA faculty and did Design Thinking with the SAP colleagues from the SAP APJ Innovation office.  In addition, the students, granted access to SCP, were also mentored by the SAP colleagues throughout the semester long course which proved to be invaluable to them.  Students were also invited in small groups to visit SAP Experience Center to learn how SAP technology had been leveraged to help our customers and partners build solutions to drive the intelligent enterprise and help make the world run better and improve people’s lives!

On the presentation day on 11 November, 6 teams presented their proposals to SAP senior executives like Aneesha Shenoy, Head and SVP, Platform and Technologies, SAP APJ; Eileen Chua, Managing Director, SAP Singapore; Anil Bhaskaran, Vice-President, Innovation office, SAP APJ; and Rudy Abrahams, Vice-President and Head, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Southeast Asia.  The 4 judges were amazed by the great and cool ideas proposed by the students on safe queuing in clinics, community bonding, food aid, resilience supply chain, safe food dining, and safe event crowd management to help Singapore overcome Covid-19 and thrive in the new normal!  Besides able to learn and use SAP technology and the SAP culture of working, the top 3 teams walked away with prizes too.
