Are you a professor / teacher and you wish to give hands-on to your students in concepts of business strategy, digital transformation, cross-collaboration, leadership and integrated business processes running on top of a Fourth generation ERP software with integrated analytics and functionalities? as Prof. Jorge Carrola Rodrigues, PhD put it. If so, let (school) students experiment the ERPsim Game themselves!

This November 2020 we held our first regional ERPsim Game Ibero-America* and due to the high demand and student motivation in the region, we ended up running a second ERPsim Game, too. All in all, we had 32 Universities teams learning, networking and competing with one team of five students each, from altogether 12 different countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Portugal & Spain!  In these virtual competitions, students have the opportunity together with team mates to manage their own virtual company, developing also multiple different skills in a live ERP simulation game with an SAP S/4HANA system, the ERP for the intelligent enterprise. We held the ERPsim Manufacturing Game, and also the Distribution Game, respectively. After the first 3 rounds (20-30 minutes each), only the 8 winner teams could stay until the final to compete for the 3 winner places.

Last but not least, I would like to share a comment from Prof. Alfredo Santana, PhD, from ITESM – Mexico, from the winner team: "Students were able to experience the whole Supply Chain. They required to understand and put in practice: Demand Forecasting and Purchase Order generation, Production and Inventory Management, Cost Management, Financial Strategy, Capacity Planning, and Sales Price Policy in a competitive environment. They needed to establish roles and effective communication channels to succeed as a team. We are grateful about being able to compete against 21 universities from eleven Ibero-American countries. The most important part of challenge-based learning is not the final result, but the learning. Therefore, we are all winners."

We look so much forward to hosting next year´s regional competition, and have if suitable school, bachelor and master University students learning and networking!

Note: The ERPsim Game has been created by HEC Montreal – ERPsim Lab, in Canada and since many years there is an annual global virtual competition run by HEC Montreal.
