SAP customers have said that they want to gain strategic insights into their business by leveraging their SAP and AWS application and data investments. At SAP, we can help organizations use the SAP Business Technology Platform to analyze, harmonize, and govern customers’ data coming from SAP and AWS applications.

What is SAP Business Technology Platform?

SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) accelerates transformation of data into business value. It includes database and data management, analytics, application development, integration as well as intelligent technologies to extend SAP’s line-of-business and industry solutions. The real power of the platform lies in leveraging these technologies together to solve complex business problems and to create innovative business outcomes. We’re focusing on the analytics area which includes SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Data Warehouse Cloud.

What is SAP Analytics Cloud?

SAP Analytics Cloud is an end-to-end, enterprise analytics cloud solution connecting people, data, and ideas from multiple sources to enable fast, confident decision-making. It allows users to discover, visualize, plan, and predict, all in one platform.

What is SAP Data Warehouse Cloud?

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is a cloud enterprise-ready data warehouse and data modeling engine that brings people and information together through collaborating data spaces, building semantics, providing security and governance, data virtualization and replication, and elasticity to start small and expand to your business user needs.

SAP and AWS Analytics Use Case

SAP and AWS are working with customers today who want to harmonize and model their SAP application data and AWS data together and provide a single analytics view of their business.  In the following video, a product manager wants to analyze the market for their product in AWS Redshift, look at the industries and customer segments from AWS S3, and tie that to their sales orders from SAP ERP system without having to replicate their data across applications.

Watch the demo video below:

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud allows the product manager to do this by connecting to AWS and SAP sources, harmonize and federate this data without replication, and tie this data into a single view for their analysis.  As you can see below, the product manager can also track where the Market data is coming from.

From there, the product manager can use SAP Analytics Cloud off of this combined view from AWS and SAP data to get insights on which market and industry to focus on and tie that to the customer orders coming in to determine where to sell their products. They can easily share this story with other departments so they can collaborate on the results in real-time.

Summary

With SAP Business Technology Platform, customers can unlock their AWS and SAP investments – whether their data is locked in line-of-business or industry applications, or in a wide variety of innovative and enterprise use cases.
