Organizations have made vast improvements in collecting data, including spend data. However, much of this data is in silos, making it impossible to provide a holistic view of spend data for your management team.

Fortunately, having the right all-in-one solution makes it a lot easier to gain a 360-degree view of your spend across your business—helping your organization identify opportunities and reduce costs. In this blog post, we’ll go over the benefits and various options for deploying an all-in-one solution so that you can:

  • Connect to multiple data sources for a unified view of spending: Gain a 360-degree view of your business by bringing your enterprise-wide data together with one, unified enterprise analytics solution.

  • Deliver metrics that matter: With compelling dashboards, gain better visibility of operational performance, process efficiency and compliance, and KPIs.

  • Timely, efficient processes: Leverage budget triggers to automatically receive data and insights in your inbox to foster faster decision making and turnaround times.

  • Uncover spending levels and trends: Compare company-wide spending levels and trends so you can see how each line of business stacks up.

  • Yield more power to negotiate discounts: With more visibility into data, you can present exactly what you’re spending with each supplier.

How do you get total control of each category of spending, plus a more comprehensive way to manage spending across categories? With a consistent analytics experience using SAP Analytics Cloud. In this blog post, we’ll explore SAP Analytics Cloud and the integrations you can choose from so you can make informed strategic decisions.

What is SAP Analytics Cloud?

SAP Analytics Cloud is a cloud solution connecting your people, data, and ideas from multiple sources to enable fast, confident decision-making. It allows users to discover, visualize, plan, and predict, all in one place.

For accessing your Spend data, there are three ways to integrate with SAP Analytics Cloud:

  1. SAP Analytics Cloud Embedded edition for SAP Concur, Ariba, and Fieldglass—Planned

  2. SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise Edition

  3. SAP Analytics Cloud Packaged Business Content

Let's take a look at each integration!

1. SAP Analytics Cloud Embedded Edition for SAP Concur, Ariba, and Fieldglass– Planned

If you were at TechEd2019, you probably remember Juergen Mueller, SAP CTO, talk about this edition.

Here’s a quick recap!

If you recall, last year we unveiled the Business Technology Platform that unites HANA, Analytics, SCP, and business services to enhance the Intelligent Enterprise. One of the key pillars of that strategy is to embed SAP Analytics Cloud into Line-of-Business solutions, such as SAP Concur, Ariba, and Fieldglass.

With a planned for availability in H2 2021 (subject to change), the SAP Analytics Cloud embedded edition will allow organizations to view spend data from directly within your application. You’ll have access to stunning visualization with Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities, so you can analyze spend related information and tell compelling stories with your data.

Concur, Ariba, and Fieldglass users will be able to analyze spend related information without leaving their spend application or replicating data.

This provides tremendous value to all SAP Spend customers as your financial data will be accessible across SAP Spend solutions.

2. Try SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise edition – for those who are ready to dive in

Using additional connectivity options from partners like Precog, Snaplogic, and APOS, customers can connect their Ariba and third-party spend data to their SAP Analytics Cloud and Data Warehouse Cloud environments. These partner connections are available now and are also a key part of building out an Enterprise spend analytics solution leveraging data from many sources.

By implementing these total spend analytics, some customers have:

  • Reduced their maverick spend by 50%,

  • Reduced PO processing time by 16 days

  • Found an average of 5% annual savings rate.

By H2 2021 (subject to change), SAP Concur, Ariba, and Fieldglass are planning to have live data connections—enabling the future of Enterprise Analytics and helping SAP Analytics Cloud users view spend data from across the entire organization. Once the live HANA connection and consolidated spend data view are available, customers will be able to complete much more comprehensive spend analysis scenarios, using data and context enriched directly by the spend application.

To elevate this one step further, leveraging SAP Data Warehouse Cloud with SAP Analytics Cloud can be used as a data harmonization layer.   Data from different data sources can be joined together and modeled with additional business logic, providing a consistent view of spend data across the business.

What does Enterprise Analytics mean for the Spend user?

While the SAP Analytics Cloud embedded edition is limited to BI capabilities only, the enterprise edition allows your business users to leverage the power of BI, augmented analytics, and collaborative enterprise planning—and that’s a powerful combo.

This advanced capability not only allows you to plan, predict, and share insights easily, it puts collaboration at the center of crowdsourcing plans. In real-time, you can collaborate by breaking down silos, unifying plans, and aligning processes.

Plus: SAP Analytics Cloud enterprise allows you to connect to other data applications. This means that whether your data is stored in spreadsheets, on-premise databases, cloud databases, or a combination of all three, you won’t have to manually move everything over.

As well, live connectivity through SAP Analytics Cloud enterprise means that you can update your data visualizations and create models, build stories, and analyze them online in real-time, with no data replication.

Use Case: Leverage Budget Triggers

In this challenging business climate, effectively managing your spending and expenses is critical to maintaining your cash flow and profit margins.

With SAP Analytics Cloud, you can get data and insights delivered right to your inbox by scheduling alerts. Get a weekly summary of all your expenses and budget accruals and automatically be notified when your business has reached a certain percentage of your budget. You can even receive next-day notifications about purchases that may violate corporate policies. It has never been easier to uncover insights in a timely manner to promote fast and strategic decision making.

3. SAP Analytics Cloud Packaged Business Content – for those who don’t know where to start

Packaged Analytics is great for those who don’t want to start from scratch. It leverages the Business Content Network, a library that provides SAP Analytics Cloud users with free access to prebuilt stories and models from SAP and other users.

So, if you’re looking to create a story for your travel, spend, or system management scenarios and don’t know where to start, you can explore our SAP Content Library for out-of-the-box-content for Concur, Fieldglass, and Ariba. All you have to do is input your data and voila – a fully created dashboard that fits your use case!

And even more exciting, we are introducing new business content for the following use cases:

  1. Ariba Procurement

  2. Ariba Total Spend Analysis Package

  3. and Ariba Value Realization Package

Use Case:

To simplify your Travel and Expense Reporting process, companies first need to bring their various data sources together.

With the right software to connect multiple data sources, Concur users can bring their cross-enterprise data together to manage their travel and expense data. Then, leveraging the pre-built content for Travel and Expense, finance departments can harness the power of data visualization and begin analyzing their enterprise data—empowering fast, confident decisions in optimizing travel and expense patterns with a full 360-degree view across the business.
