The Future of Continuous Delivery for SAP Cloud SDK and SAP Cloud Application Programming Model

Note: This post is part of a series. For a complete overview visit the SAP Cloud SDK Overview.

If you make use of the SAP Cloud SDK, and/or SAP Cloud Application Programming Model you will probably be familiar with the Continuous Delivery Pipeline they provide. The pipeline helps you go get started on your Continuous Delivery journey based on learnings and best-practices with little effort.

In the last year, the SAP Cloud SDK for Continuous Delivery team spent quite some time contributing to project “Piper” to enable new use-cases. For example, many project “Piper” features which had been implemented in a Jenkins-specific way are now available in a golang-based cli tool which allows to use them on other CI/CD platforms too. A great example for this is the project “Piper” GitHub Action. The Jenkins pipelines and step libraries are of course still available.

In the process of re-thinking how project “Piper” could help you on your CI/CD journey, we came to the conclusion that there is no need for a specialized SAP Cloud SDK and SAP Cloud Application Programming Model pipeline anymore as project “Piper” general purpose pipeline became much more capable due to our contributions. Unifying two previously separate pipelines will make it easier to get started, and more simple to share existing solutions within the community.

You’re invited to join our call where we will elaborate on the reasoning of this decision, and how you can make the most of your CI/CD pipeline in depth.

The call will happen December 2nd, 2020 at 17:00 Central European Time, you can register here.

There will be time for questions in the call, feel free to already post questions you might have before or after the call into the comments of this blog post.

Make sure to register for our update call.
