As with most things in 2020, SAP TechEd is virtual. While we won’t have a chance to move to the new venue in Austin this year, SAP TechEd is still a great way to learn about the newest technologies and innovations to bring the SAP Fiori user experience to your organization. While it will be disappointing not to see people in person, there are some advantages to an all-online SAP TechEd:

  • Everyone can attend without having to find travel budget

  • No need to present or find another way to cover the cost of your ticket – SAP TechEd 2020 is entirely free

  • All sessions are recorded, so no issues when two interesting sessions run at the same time

  • More opportunity to attend hands-on workshops, as you can attend up to four live and access some of the exercises after SAP TechEd

  • No time away from home

Like any SAP TechEd, we have a combination of lectures, hands-on workshops, strategy talks, and roadmap sessions. The user experience and design sessions are organized into one of several content tracks:

  • Integrated Intelligent Suite (IIS) – check out the sub-track “Seamless user experience” for a dedicated list of UX-related sessions

  • Application Development & Integration (DEV) – the sub-track “Establish an engaging user experience across different channels” lists sessions with a UX focus

  • Digital Transformation with the Intelligent ERP (DT).

One adjustment for the virtual format is that lectures are now 40 minutes rather than the traditional hour. And, we have a new short-form 20-minute lecture/demo format called a “Breakout”.

A big part of SAP TechEd is the opportunity to interact with product experts and ask questions. During the live sessions, there will be a chat-based Q&A, so be sure to tune in and find the information you need to accelerate your UX transformation. Each session airs twice, so there will usually be one that fits your work schedule.

Similar to an in-person SAP TechEd, we will also have usability testing. See what topics are available and reserve your spot to help us deliver a better user experience. https://experience.sap.com/sapremoteusabilitytesting/.

If you are interested specifically in SAPUI5, please read the blog by Oliver Graeff on those sessions. https://blogs.sap.com/2020/11/05/sapui5-at-sap-teched-2020-tune-in

For a focused blog on digital experience and portals, please see this post by Aviad Rivlin. https://blogs.sap.com/2020/11/11/digital-experience-and-portals-at-sap-teched-2020-get-ready/

Here are some highlights from the User Experience and Design sessions for SAP TechEd 2020.

Lectures (includes 40-minute lectures, 30-minute roadmap sessions, 30-minute strategy talks, and 20-minute breakouts). See below for the hands-on sessions.

I listed the streaming times for Central European Time (UTC+1) and Eastern time (UTC-5) working hours. Since SAP TechEd is for all our customers and partners around the world, you might need to do some conversions to find the time that fits your schedule. If the times are not convenient for you, you can watch on-demand, although you will miss the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers or get help from the hands-on facilitators.

Clicking on the link will take you to the session in the catalog and you can add it to your agenda (time will display in your time zone).
