SAPUI5 Road Map – The New Generation

To help customers & partners navigating the complexities of SAP’s plans for products, tools and technologies, the classic PDF road maps are being transformed by the SAP Road Map Explorer. With this interactive tool users can create and tailor their own road map, filtering innovations from SAP products, industries, business processes.

In SAP Road Map Explorer use the search bar and make sure you select the Product ‘SAPUI5’ or access the SAPUI5 Road Map directly.

This will lead to the Kanban board for the SAPUI5 Road Map with all delivered and planned innovations. Use the Time Horizon filter to adjust the quarters you would like to see.

To cover all capabilities of SAPUI5, the innovations are grouped into 4 categories:

  • User Interface Controls, covering the actual controls, e.g. for implementing the latest SAP Fiori 3 design
  • User Interface Core Framework, covering the SAPUI5 frameowork
  • User Interface Flexibility with capabilities for developers, key users and end users to adapt an SAPUI5 app
  • User Interface Open Source Development with topics like UI5 Web Components and UI5 Tooling

See details on SAP Road Map Explorer

Please note that the classical PDF format of SAP Road Maps will be discontinued.

Hi, thanks for sharing this useful article, I have a query related with the learning process of this SAP Fiori Journey, I’m a ABAP consultant but I want to begin my learning process in Fiori and all the tools involved on it. Yesterday I started watching the Opensap course for Fiori to get a basic knowledge of the technology, My question is what should be the next steps after finishing my first course on Fiori.

I’ll appreciate for take the time and answering this question.

      Greetings.

      CG.

Hi Eduardo, For ABAP Developers we would also recommend you do:

Those both give a good grounding in the practical aspects of programming for SAP Fiori in the latest releases.

Hi Jocelyn, thanks for the quick answer.

I'm going to do that, I've planned becoming soon as possible in a Fiori Developer, I'm pretty sure that this technology can help me as well in my profession.

      Greetings.

      Dear Oliver,

      Please keep on blogging!
The new swim lane roadmap tool cannot replace the old roadmaps complete, because it can provide graphics, architectural drawings and simplified overviews.

In terms of SAP UI Roadmap, I especially miss the SAP UI Big Picture slide:

      Best regards,
      Stephan

      Hi Stephan,

you are absolutely right, thanks for your feedback! Currently I'm trying to find out the best way how to reflect this additional information, incuding the cross-product topics you mention here.

In the meantime, feel free to email me and I'll do my best to help.

      Best regards,
      Oliver

      An improved roadmap view.

I guess it's under responsibility of another team, but I wonder it the new roadmap explorer would include also an "ideas" area and/or voting up/down for future features.

Thanks for your feedback. I will check with the Road Map Explorer team.
While SAP has different channels to roll-in ideas such as user groups or Customer Influence, specifically for SAPUI5/OpenUI5 I recommend engaging with the very active UI5 Community or even contribute to OpenUI5 and various open source projects in the UI5 context.
