The synchronization cockpit - call by transaction MDS_LOAD_COCKPIT - is commonly used to synchronize the customer/supplier data into SAP business partner as preparation for conversion from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA. In the ECC EHP8 SP15 this cockpit was enhanced with some features that I’ll share in this blog. It is also available for lower EHPs down to EHP0, however the application of the following notes is required in order to have the new functionalities. Please check the SAP Notes:

  • 2907519 - Master Data Synchronization Tool Revamp

  • 2954330 - Performance Improvement of Monitor Tab in MDS_LOAD_COCKPIT

  • 2958046 - CVI : MDS_LOAD_COCKPIT does not display Logs of a specific date

These are the enhancements described in more detail below:

  1. New upload feature for selection data – Processing Tab

  2. Improved monitor usability – Monitor Tab

Often in projects we see, that handling the selections for the MDS_LOAD_COCKPIT synchronization runs could be much easier. It could save some work and reduce the risk for accidental errors. Or sometimes it is hard to find the failure scenarios, with the monitor improvement now is easier to find it.

1.New upload feature for selection data

Now it is available a feature that gives you the option to download a template from the cockpit. In the synchronization cockpit screen the Download Template icon is newly introduced, previously only Upload Excel icon was available. Now it is possible to download a template and to perform the file upload after filling the file with the required information.

How the template looks like:

You can add/remove your own field names in the excel, as shown in the screenshot below, and save.

You can ask: where can I find which fields I can add?

Check the table MDSV_SYNC_ID_FL (by transaction SE16n or any of your preference). The field names will appear, and you can add those to the Excel.

After saving you can upload the excel file by Upload Excel icon and the field values, relevant to the Source Object selected, will be displayed:

And then you can proceed with your synchronization process.

2. Improved monitor usability

After synchronizing, the data from the source object to the target object, the report displays the results in the Monitor tab. The monitor tab was also enhanced with some additional filter options.

Initially monitor tab displays default logged in user as shown below. There should be no result displayed. Date is calculated from one week prior to today’s date and all the logs displays with the restriction number of 100.

The already available logs will be displayed only after double clicking on Synchronization Process:

The logs change according to the selected Synchronization Process and are displayed according to a particular user or multiple users; to a specific user range; to the restricted number or a specific date or data range. These usability improvements are greatly simplifying user experience during synchronization.

Hope this blog helps you!

Thank you
