SAP Analytics Cloud enables you to manage your data, streamline your processes, and discover deep insights about your business. However, to start exploring these insights, you will need to import your company's data through SAP Analytics Cloud's connections function. This is your first step towards creating centralized intelligence to inform all levels of decision-making.

Making the Connection

You can connect your data to SAP Analytics Cloud through either a live data connection or an import data connection. While both connection types are available for cloud and on-premise data sources, the key difference is that with live connections, SAP Analytics Cloud uses your data source's existing models. Furthermore, any changes to the data in the system are instantly reflected in your story. On the other hand, with import connections, your data is replicated from the source system to SAP Analytics Cloud. This means that the changes you make to the data in the source system will not be reflected in SAP Analytics Cloud until it is either updated manually or scheduled to update on the Cloud using our scheduled import function.

Connection Options for Trial Users

If you are on a free trial, live data connection to SAP Business Warehouse, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, and SAP HANA Cloud is supported. You can also perform import data connections to the following systems:

  • SAP Business ByDesign Analytics

  • SAP Cloud for Customer

  • SAP Cloud for Customer Analytics

  • SAP HANA

  • SAP Integrated Business Planning

  • SAP S/4HANA

  • SAP SuccessFactors

  • Dow Jones

  • Google Big Query

  • Google Drive

  • OData Services

  • Qualtrics

Once you upgrade to a business account, many more live connections are supported. In the meantime, for the duration of your trial period, consider downloading and using our sample datasets (here and here) to experience our import data connection function and to explore features such as data preparation, linked analysis, and more.

Extra Help

Please note that live data connections entail a series of technical steps that may require a background in IT or expertise from different areas of your organization. For assistance when troubleshooting, reach out to your company's IT department or submit your question to our Community page. Enterprise-level data connections are only available to SAP Analytics Cloud for business intelligence or SAP Analytics Cloud for planning subscribers. Please make sure to check the system requirements and technical prerequisites for each data source connection before attempting to connect to avoid running into any technical difficulties.
