Before I dive deeper into details, it is important to clarify that SAP Cloud ALM is not SAP Solution Manager in the cloud. SAP Cloud ALM is a new offering built in the cloud for managing cloud-centric landscapes with future possibility of managing hybrid scenarios. SAP has three strategic ALM products: SAP Solution Manager, SAP Focused Run and SAP Cloud ALM. It is important to understand all three products’ use-cases which highly depends on customers’ landscape strategy and requirements. Hence, you first must understand your landscape strategy and requirements which then drives the ALM solution which could be any of the three SAP ALM products.
And now, onto SAP Cloud ALM. Let me try to demo few highlights of SAP S/4HANA Cloud essentials scope items, Test Preparation and Test Execution using SAP Cloud ALM.
In the first demo below, you will see navigation to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud essentials scope items where you can create Requirements and Notes for those scope items in SAP Cloud ALM. You can pick various workstreams for the requirements as well.
The second demo below highlights Test Preparation in creating, modifying and eventually executing manual test using Test Execution. You can toggle between steps being in or out of scope, as well as if a test is ready using Test Readiness toggle. From Test Execution, you can also jump back to Test Preparation steps if required. If the Application link is maintained, you can also jump into the Application being tested.
As of today, only manual testing is supported; however, automation and integration is planned in SAP Cloud ALM roadmap and looks like SAP Cloud ALM team is quickly delivering new innovations constantly; that said, all roadmap and future-looking statements can be changed by SAP.
While we continue to crave more new features to be released on SAP Cloud ALM, we must give kudos to the product team in swiftly executing the roadmap and already thinking ahead for new innovations.
