SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS11 JAVA Upgrade

In recent time based upon experience. While Upgrading SAP Solution Manager 7.2 to Latest SPS11, especially JAVA Instance causing issues reported in SAP KB Article 2953651

Erorr:

 

CSN Component [BC-ESI-UDDI], DC Name [sap.com/tc~esi~uddi~sr~cs~content~handler]
java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
at com.ibm.icu.impl.NormalizerDataReader.<clinit>(NormalizerDataReader.java:300)
at com.ibm.icu.impl.NormalizerImpl.<init>(NormalizerImpl.java:288)
at com.ibm.icu.impl.NormalizerImpl.<clinit>(NormalizerImpl.java:35)

Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid version number: Version number may be
negative or greater than 255

 

So i've decided to write about SAP Solution Manager Latest SPS11 (05/2020), is causing lot of issue, while upgrading , weather it is Fresh Installation or Upgrading from old SPS to SPS11. So i here are some helpful information .

which might help those who are in process of doing the same.

 

Very First Thing

Generating the Stack is very important step in this whole exercise. So Let's Begin.

Firstly, Select your system and generate Stack File. Below is the screenshot for reference.

 

 

in Next Screenshot you have to exclusively select JAVA Patches

There is Standard Knowledge Base Article for doing the same.

2022451 - Add Java Patches - Things to consider

Select Your Desired OS/DB kernel and other binaries(SAPJVM 1.8 SP65, hostagent , SUM, IGS etc).

Now in Next Screen Select

Select Option.

Include selected Java patches into stack.xml

 

Select SERVERCORE16P_24-80000485.SCA as Main Patch and Click on Validate Dependencies. Below is the list of Dependent Components will be selected.

Kindly check and validate.

And That it download the stack file and patches NO more issues. SUM will run without issues. SO following this procedure , you can avoid SAP Solution Manager 7.2 JAVA SPS11 upgrade issues.

For those who are using SAP Solution Manager 7.2 JAVA instance for Adobe, they might come across ADS is giving error. So suggest to Update ADS Patch (ADSSAP16P_6-80000623.SCA) as bare minimum. in order to resolve ADS SmartForms Issue.
