Want to Build a Resilient Business? Renew Your Focus on Connecting Data
“An effective integration architecture prevents manual rework, allows products to be brought to market faster, and supports data-driven decision making”1
- McKinsey & Company
An intelligent enterprise needs a holistic integration strategy that connects people, processes, data, and things (like sensors and machines), no matter where they reside in the enterprise and across the ecosystem. Integration is a catalyst for transformation.
As part of that holistic strategy, data integration is the key to access and process all the trusted data needed to ultimately derive value from an organization’s data assets.
With its 13-year history of leadership in the data integration solutions market2, what SAP is now seeing is that new and urgent circumstances are driving an evolution in data integration towards data orchestration, due to its critical role in driving business agility and resilience. This evolution takes concepts like data integration and extends them into the domain of data catalogs, enterprise data fabrics, and intelligent data processing, ideally in an automated and scalable way. This is at the heart of data orchestration – seamlessly blending data integration, data processing, and automation.
SAP is able to offer a comprehensive data orchestration strategy to cover every data integration method (ELT, replication, virtualization, streaming, orchestration, etc.), use case (analytics, IoT, migration/consolidation, operational consistency, etc.), and delivery option (on-premise, cloud, multi-cloud, hybrid, etc.) for every type of data (inside & outside SAP systems).
Over the years, SAP has innovated its strategy and offerings for data integration to keep up with the new and urgent requirements. While collecting data from traditional sources is often straightforward; enterprises often struggle to integrate, process, curate, govern, transform, and augment that data with other data sources (including 3rd party data) in order to deliver a comprehensive, trusted view of the customer, partner, product, or employee.
The cornerstone of the new SAP data orchestration strategy is SAP Data Intelligence. This solution combines data integration, data governance, metadata management, data processing, data pipelining, data orchestration, and machine learning into a powerful data fabric approach that allows customers to access all the data they needs, understand & process it, and create workflows to automate actions to drive business outcomes.
The real value of this data fabric approach is the ability to provide the foundation for organizations to execute on business use cases quickly by automating the processing, integration, transformation, preparation, curation, governance, and orchestration of all data assets in order to enable real-time analytics and insights for successful business outcomes. It minimizes complexity by automating processes, workflows, and pipelines, as well as streamlining data access to accelerate various use cases.
SAP Data Intelligence enables simple self-service data preparation with an intuitive guided user interface for shaping, harmonizing, and enriching your data. You can perform column actions, derive new information, harmonize disparate sources, merge or combine multiple dataset. And all the actions are recorded in a recipe which can be edited and reused as needed.
And SAP Data Intelligence enables hybrid data management scenarios extending use cases with SAPs data integration products, like SAP Data Services, SAP Landscape Transformation replication server (SLT), key data integration services in SAP HANA, like smart data access (for data virtualization), smart data integration, and streaming analytics, as well as SAP Cloud Platform Integration Suite (iPaaS), to leverage existing investments.
