Devtoberfest 2020 – Week 1 Recap and Week 2 Preview
Devtoberfest 2020’s first week is complete, yet it’s just getting started. For those of you might have missed out on the announcement of Devtoberfest, we’d recommend you check out this blog for all the basic details: https://blogs.sap.com/2020/08/20/devtoberfest-2020/
Week 1
But let’s recap the first week. DJ Adams kicked off a wildly successful week one focused on the SAP Cloud Platform Workflow topic. Each day of the week DJ premiered new exercises videos on the SAP Developers YouTube channel. The live premier format allows those that are able to join at the particular time to watch the video and chat with the topic experts at the same time. But we know schedules and time zones don’t always accommodate, so all of the content of Devtoberfest is designed for self paced consumption.
It’s certainly not too late to still perform the exercises or watch the videos from week one. In fact if you get stuck performing any of the exercises, you can enter an issue in the Devtoberfest GitHub repo and one of our experts will help you out. Also DJ will be holding “office hour” webinars next Wednesday, September 2nd for you ask questions as well.
All of the content and schedule is neatly available over on the Devtoberfest GitHub repository as well, but we’ll also copy it here for your easy consumption:
Office hours sessions
In case you have anything you want to ask or discuss, relating to the content, we’ll hold a couple of hour-long “office hours” sessions in the week following the video premieres, specifically on Wed 02 Sep. They will be in the form of Zoom meetings and scheduled to allow participation from most time zones:
- 0800 BST (UTC+1) → Zoom meeting link | ICS Download
- 1400 BST (UTC+1) → Zoom meeting link | ICS Download

Week 2
We know that ABAP holds a special place in the hearts and minds of great portion of our developer community. That’s what makes next week of Devtoberfest extra exciting. Rich Heilman will be leading the week with content focused on SAP Cloud Platform, ABAP Environment and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
The format will be the same as week one. Rich has prepared hands-on exercises which are all designed to be performed on the free SAP Cloud Platform trial. He has also recorded video walkthroughs for all the exercises. Each day, videos will premier and if you join the live premier time; Rich and others will be online to answer your questions in the YouTube chat. Rich will also conduct the open “office hours” the following week on Wednesday, September 9th; giving you plenty of time to work on the exercises.
The schedule and details are all in the ABAP topic page of the Devtoberfest GitHub repository. But like week one, we will also copy them here for easy reading:
