VMware Adapter for SAP Landscape Management
Virtualization is a basic technology in large data centers today. Its use leads to more flexibility in operation, cost reductions and is the basis for new technologies such as Public Cloud solutions. Against this background, the integration of virtual infrastructure operation in SAP Landscape Management is of particular importance. The following blog post shows the benefits and advantages of such integration using the example of the VMware Adapter for SAP Landscape Management.
While SAP Landscape Management provides a comprehensive list of operational features for SAP systems and infrastructures, the VMware Adapter for SAP Landscape Management allows you to take advantage of the unique capabilities of vSphere infrastructures such as seamless VM migrations, snapshots, VM deployments and provisioning, physical resource management, and virtual infrastructure control for SAP Basis Admin with SAP LaMa.
To ensure reliable and secure operation, all functions are encapsulated in the virtual infrastructure and executed in a controlled manner via a VMware Landscape Appliance (vLA). The actual work steps are mapped in workflows in vRealize Operations (vRO) and thus ensure that only these functions can be called. An SAP Basis Admin can therefore perform complex operations in the virtual infrastructure easily and securely.

Hi Josef,
Do you perhaps know if the latest version of the vmware adapter for Lama (2.0) is compatible with the latest version of Lama (sp16)? In the release notes (VMware Adapter for SAP Landscape Management - Release Notes 2.0.0) they only mention SAP LaMa 3 SP14 P1 support.
Regards,
Ken Tas
Hi Ken,
we continuously test the VLA 2.0 with all SP's (or even single patches) of SAP LaMa as they become available. Our last tested SP was SP16 and we did not see any issue with it.
Best regards
Josef
