SAP Profitability and Performance Management: What to expect in 3.0 SP10?

The SAP Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM) 3.0 is to release SP10 late August 2020 and right around the corner SP11 in September. If you noticed, these two support packages that I mentioned are just one month apart.

Please take note that in PaPM SP10, the solution’s main objective is to accomodate customers that are using Estimated Cashflow Preparation (ECP) Fixed Content which is integrated with SAP S/4HANA for Financial Products Subledger – a solution that is planning to release a new feature pack this August.

Even so ECP is the ultimate goal, PaPM development team still aimed to improve PaPM solution by enhancing some functionalities and giving better features to customers.

Now let me share with you the points that you can expect in Support Package 10

General Feature

  • Performance Improvements

SAP Profitability and Performance Management 3.0 SP10 offers performance improvement in the PaPM interface called by CVPM (FPSL-ECP). The execution runtimes of ACG, BECF and EPS via CVPM have improved

Function SP10

  • Query

If  the Query source is Environment CDS and the Editable option is set to

No the modeler will have the Aggregation Behavior option for KYF (Keyfigure Rule type Column).

Yes the modeler will have the Keyfigure Editable option for the KYF (Keyfigure Rule type Column).

In case you are in a lower Support package and still want to utilize this behavior, implement below note together with the prerequisite notes: 2950838 FS-PER Rel 3.0 SP10: Query function, environment CDS, editable KF

  • Writer

Writer function with BW Write Type Loading has been enhanced to consider only records from specific process  which triggered the writer.

Filter condition is added to the generated Data Transformation Process for this purpose. During execution of the writer function, data will be filtered based on process id. This mechanism will work even for existing modeled writers after reactivation.

In case you are in a lower Support package and still want to utilize this behavior, implement below note together with the prerequisite notes: 2944754 FS-PER Rel 3.0 SP10: Write to BW with loading data selection filter

  • Allocation

  1. The function allows the use of grouping formulas for distribution base. these aggregation functions include formula such as SUM (this is the default option), MAX and MIN

In case you are in a lower Support package and still want to utilize this behavior, implement below note together with the prerequisite notes: 2935196 FS-PER Rel 3.0 SP10 – Allocation enhancements

  1. Direct Allocation: Enhancement for mapping method ‘Empty as any value’

Allocation result inherits the values from sender data when the allocation rule mapping method is ‘Empty as any value’. If the sender data is empty, the receiver data is used to populate allocation result. Offset allocation result and unassigned items still have values as they exist in sender data.

In case you are in a lower Support package and still want to utilize this behavior, implement below note together with the prerequisite notes: 2926955 FS-PER Rel 3.0 SP10 – Allocation result enrichment

  • Calculation Unit

  1. Process Template: Activity dependencies for Simulation Process Type has been removed.

In case you are in a lower Support package and still want to utilize this behavior, implement below note together with the prerequisite notes: 2944808 FS-PER Rel 3.0 SP10: No Activity dependency for Process Type = Simulation

  1. Activity Type

Within a Calculation Unit Process, a new activity type has now been included called the URL.

The user can maintain Web URLs for activities of this activity type.
The URLs can be maintained in one of the following ways:

    • Direct URL Any external or internal link can be directly specified in the URL

    • URLs with Placeholders might be desirable to specify the target application that are system specific. For example, server name, language and others. TVARVC table can be utilized to maintain the placeholder.
This placeholder can then be specified by user by placing them within < > while specifying the URL.

In case you are in a lower Support package and still want to utilize this behavior, implement below note together with the prerequisite notes: 2951162 FS-PER 3.0 SP10: Calculation Unit Activity Type – URL Enhancement

The fixed content will help insurance companies fulfill the new requirements by bridging the gap between the actuarial department and the technical accounting subledger, bringing these two worlds closer together. It also reduces the complexity in the subledger by unifying the input from Life and Health (L&H) and the Property and Casualty (P&C) lines of business into one Best Estimate Cash Flow format, which can be used as a basis for multi-GAAP accounting as well as cash flow reporting

      Hi Justine,

Thanks for the article. I've a question regarding the content on Process Mining, is this based on Celonis solution? or is it a new solution deployed in PaPM using the Visual Modeler Reporting Enhancements?.

Where can I find more info on Process Mining features based in PaPM?

      Thanks and regards!

      Blog Post Author

      Hello Alfred,

First of all thank you for reading the blog post and for showing interest on PaPM sample contents.

Let me give you answer into 4 parts:

Sample Content Logic: this has been completely created by experts within PaPM development.

Configuration or Modeling: the development or configuration of the environment has been done in the Expert UI (or the classic PaPM)

Reporting: But as you mentioned Visual Modeler.. results can be projected and presented via Visual Modeler through its data visualization features. Each process mining content contains a qualitative reporting in which the features can be explored by users.

More information about Process Mining: the Sample content experts of PaPM are  currently recording How-to videos for process mining contents that will be available in short term and will be uploaded in YouTube under one of SAP’s channels.

also once SP10 has been released this August, you will find more information too about the process mining directly on the sap notes listed in PaPM the admin guide.

      regards,

      Justine
