What is SAP Central Finance Transaction Replication by Magnitude for SAP S/4HANA?
What is SAP Central Finance Transaction Replication by Magnitude for SAP S/4HANA?
SAP Central Finance Transaction Replication by Magnitude for SAP S/4HANA is an SAP Solution Extension. What is an SAP Solution Extension? SAP Solution Extensions are strategic third-party solutions developed by independent software partners, in this case Magnitude, which offer innovative functionalities that complement your SAP business solutions.
SAP’s eco system is broad, we have over 18K partners. Solution Extension partners however are a very select group, only 33 companies have become SAP Solution Extension partners. Partner selection is rigorous and initiated by SAP only. SAP premium qualifies, tests and approves the solutions and they are integrated into SAP product roadmap. So, SAP Central Finance Transaction Replication by Magnitude for SAP S/4HANA, is Magnitude’s Transaction Replication product, sold by SAP. The development of the solution is maintained by Magnitude and the support for the solution is handled jointly with SAP and Magnitude. As an SAP Solution Extension, you can log a support ticket for the product with SAP.
OK, but what does it do? As in its name it works together with SAP Central Finance. SAP Central Finance is a deployment option for SAP S/4HANA where you can collect all your transactional ERP data, from both SAP and non SAP source systems into one central instance of SAP S/4HANA.
Benefits of SAP Central Finance:
- Transparency – a single, central source of harmonized financial data for local, entity and group reporting
- Efficiency – integration, standardization and automation of business processes such as managing accounts payable, treasury, and other financial operations
- Simplification – one rationalized, and consolidated solution for transaction capturing, reporting, planning and consolidation
- Business Continuity – SAP and non-SAP ERPs are connected without disruption to SAP S/4HANA and can run as a digital business
Next question, how do I collect my transactional data together efficiently. AND I have data in both SAP ERP systems and non-SAP ERP systems. Traditional paths have people considering a custom connector, my ERP landscape is unique, and I need to build something specific to our company. So yes, the solution will be specific to your company, but you don’t need to build it from scratch. That’s where SAP Central Finance Transaction Replication by Magnitude for SAP S/4HANA comes in (I’ll refer to it as Magnitude Transaction Replication going forward).
SAP did not provide connectors for non-SAP systems, but now with Magnitude as an SAP Solution extension, we do. Magnitude Transaction Replication speeds the integration of third-party ERP systems and SAP solutions. The application connects and normalizes transactions from non-SAP sources in real time, provides visibility of non-SAP operational details, and enables your move to the SAP Central Finance. With this solution, you can support faster, better, and more cost-effective implementations.
Pre-built connectors extract transaction details from the source systems and transform them into the financial journal entries required by Central Finance. It is worth noting that there are as many as 23 common transaction types that must be interpreted and transformed for extraction and load – and of course each source system supports all of these in different ways. Once extracted and interpreted, financial journal transactions are loaded into SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server (SLT) and from there loaded into SAP Central Finance.
In addition to transaction replication we provide additional value with:
- Drill-down – The ability to drill back to the source system to find additional detail not captured in SAP Central Finance
- Synch back – If you decided to post transactions in your SAP Central Finance system, these transactions also need to be posted back to the source systems, we can do that
- Reconciliation reporting – For our own peace of mind and for our auditor friends, we need complete lineage as to where data comes from. Our reconciliation reporting delivers just that.
Hope you’ve found this introductory blog helpful. I’ll be posting some more blogs soon on the above capabilities and other ways SAP Central Finance Transaction Replication by Magnitude for SAP S/4HANA can add value to your SAP Central Finance implementation.

Thanks for info and is very helpful
Hi Carsten
Thanks for the blog and yes I'm a Magnitude supporter!
Do you have any views on how it compares to Syniti?
Is it a like-for-like extension or does Magnitude offer more in terms of SAP Central Finance?
Thank you.
Anthony - its actually very easy. We did a thorough evaluation of Syniti and for the purpose of Central Finance they do not have a complete and comprehensive set of functionality as required, and their product is a product that needs to be implemented. As such it can not just be dropped in as a pre-defined accelerator that just needs to be installed.
So SAP made a strategic product portfolio decision to ONLY SUPPORT MAGNITUDE with Central Finance. Syniti is not supported by SAP for Central Finance - not an alternative to be considered.
However Syniti's capability very well support S/4 migration in general - and that's where they are in play; Magnitude does not support S/4 migrations in general.
So for cFIN its magnitude only
