To make scheduling external operations and components in maintenance orders easier, we have implemented a solution which allows you to align the delivery date of external operations to either the start date or the end date of the operation. For components, in addition to setting the date manually, you can now also align the date to either the start or end date of the operation, depending on your needs:

The new alignment field for non-stock components

To make decision making easier for maintenance planners, you can set up default values for the alignment of dates for both external operations and components per order type. You can set these default values in Customizing activities Create Default Value Profiles for External Procurement and Create Default Value Profiles for General Order Data respectively.

Please note that if you have configured the order and not the operation dates as the basis for scheduling for components, the new functionality does not apply. Check your settings in Customizing activity Set Scheduling Parameters.

The new functionality is available with SAP Note 2911027 or with the upcoming support packages of enhancement package 8 for SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA 1809, 1909 and 2020. You can enable the new functionality by implementing either the SAP Note or installing the corresponding support packages, and switching on the Enterprise Asset Management Part 15 and Simplified Management of EAM Functions 16 business functions for the classical user interface and for the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance respectively.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new functionality, so please comment if you have any questions!
